Wasn't it stupid that in New Moon (book) Angela's boyfriend was Ben and in the New Moon movie her boyfriend was Eric?

OK,I know it's not very important who is her boyfriend, but still...

He was probably just Angela's prom date. o maybe she had a crush on him (she was the one who wanted to ask him, I believe) but decided he wasn't the one for her. And afterwards, started dating Ben.
