I have never worked at the polls before, but an assistant registrar of voters recently asked me if I would on Election Day this year (November 3, 2009). I am going to be a Republican checker, which means that I will cross off the names of voters on a list as they come in to vote after checking their IDs. It also means that I have to sit next to a Democratic counterpart for 14 hours!
