Happy Halloween, everyone. For real this time. Now we have finally reached the last movie of this crazy month. Are te excited? I know I am. So let’s talk about the Halloweeniest Film out there, otherwise known as Hallowee- Oh, wait. I already reviewed Halloween… Well, don’t worry. I got something even better. Something even più Halloweeny. And that movie is the underrated horror movie, Trick ‘r Treat.
Now, is Trick ‘r Treat better than Halloween. I can’t say for sure. However, what I can say is that Trick ‘r Treat definitely feels più like a Halloween movie (The holiday, not the actual horror movie). Trick ‘r Treat doesn’t really follow one group of characters in one big story, and instead follows four short stories all set within the small town of Warren Valley, Ohio (There are way too many horror Film set in Ohio. It’s like it was meant to be.). Anyway, the movie follows four short stories, and shows what happens to unlucky people who do not celebrate o respect the Halloween tradition. da that, I mean, you’d better celebrate Halloween o a group of creepy ghost children will come and murder you. So, why don’t we talk about a few of these short stories that the movie talks about and see what could happen, shall we?
The first story follow Principal Wilkins, a seemingly kind man who enjoys the feeling of Halloween, and has a talk with the local ruffian, who steals caramelle and smashes pumpkins. Probably the least scariest one of them all, but still a good one. It’s just the least interesting. successivo is the story of three teens, who go to the lake to go and explore the lake where it is rumored that eight kids died da drowning in the bus. The successivo follows a girl who is told da her sister and two Friends to lose her “virginity”, while all the while a vampire stalks the town. And the final story follows a man who hates Halloween, being terrorized da a group of coltello wielding children… Easily the best one of the bunch. The entire movie isn’t really much of a movie. It’s più of a series of short films. However, I really do like this movie, and I can assure te of one reason as to why the movie is good… The feeling of Halloween.
Halloween is EVERYWHERE in Trick ‘r Treat. I mean, with a name like that, te can expect there to be some sort of relation to the holiday. There are jack-o-lanterns lit everywhere, people are all wearing costumes, people getting violently murdered da ghost children. It’s what you’d expect from a Halloween movie. Well, maybe not the last part, but still. I saved this movie for last for those very reasons. Halloween is più popular, yes, but there wasn’t very much Halloween decorations until the end. Trick ‘r Treat, however, is nothing but Halloween, until the very end, and it all looks incredible and is just amazing to watch, especially around the Halloween season. Sure, te could watch the movie at any time, buy the DVDs, and help give this movie più money that it deserves, but it feels so much better and kinda right to watch this movie during the Halloween season. And not to mention, the one character that is very recognizable. The little scarecrow ghost boy, Sam.
Even if te have never watched Trick ‘r Treat (Which I’m assuming te haven’t), te may have at least seen this character at one point in your life. This little killer is the poster boy of this movie. Sam is the main boy who is part of the group of the killer ghosts kids, and he comes for te if te do not want to follow the traditions of Halloween. If te do anything against the Halloween tradition, like smash pumpkins, have sex with others, o just in general hate everything about Halloween, Sam the killer scarecrow boy who can climb up the walls like Spiderman and place caramelle and razor blades on the floor for te to step on will hunt te down and kill te no matter what. Honestly though, this kid is kinda creepy. He doesn’t speak, he doesn’t mostra his face, and that burlap sack is way scarier than when Jason wore it in the early years of Friday the 13th. Not to mention, with his ghost abilities, instead of doing generic stuff like jump scare the audience into submission, he uses it to bend the environment to harm others, like get people pulled into the water, o place razor blades on the floor, probably from the help of the other ghost kids. And every single story has Sam in it. Even when he doesn’t even do the killings, he’s there. Hell, he doesn’t even try to kill anyone until the near end of the movie, but when he does, it’s very creepy. So, don’t hate on Halloween. Hate on another holiday. Like Christmas. Yeah, fuck you, Christmas. Stop telling me to be happy, bring joy to the world, and playing those cheesy songs on the radio.
Trick ‘r Treat is the perfect film for Halloween. It has everything, from the colors, to the autumn leaves, to the jack-o-lanterns, to the creepy killers. It’s got everything. Sure, the movie did do a bit poorly in theaters since it didn’t air much, just barely getting it’s money back at the box office. But, da some miracle, the movie was able to make enough money to get a sequel, Trick ‘r Treat 2, which is being worked on as we speak. Please let this be good, Hollywood. The creator still works on other horror movies, like Krampus, a Natale horror movie. Maybe I’ll review that during Natale time. Maybe a bunch of other Film as well……………… Anyway, Trick ‘r Treat is a timeless classic, and is a movie well recommended for Halloween. If te Amore Halloween, than I assure te that this is the movie for you. Take care.
Thank te for joining me on October Movie Marathon.
