They see that the boy is ok and embrace him in hugs. "Cam we have a moment?" asks Arthur wiping the tears away from his cheeks. They nod and go on their way. "Francis I'm glad te came, I didn't wanna die yet." Arthur says still wiping the tears. Arthur kisses Francis and they head home.
December 23, 1944
The phone rings
Lacy picks it up
she drops it and runs
"Matt!" (Collin's first name) she looks at him with he big brown eyes full of sadness. He goes to her. "What is it?" he says with a concerning voice. "You have been...stationed in.." she cuts off to let a tear fall from her eye. "Berlin." she says. Matt just sits down in his chair looking sad. Arthur is watching them, he runs to his room and flops on his bed.
He hits the bacheca out of anger, hatred and confusion. Then he hears a knock on his door. "Hey Artie can I come in?" asks Matt. He nods and Matt walks on. He sits on his letto and puts an arm around Arthur's shoulder. "You're going, aren't you?" Arthur asks in a soft voice. Matt sighs and says "I have to Arthur, there is nothing else I can do." he ruffles his hair and packs his things. "But 2 days before Christmas!?" Arthur starts to shout. He ignores Arthur and heads over to Lacy. "Please be careful." she says hugging him. Matt kisses her and a green looking truck with the UK's flag on the door pulls up. Mat heads out and Lacy starts to sob. Arthur goes over and hugs her. "Don't worry he will be fine." says Arthur is a soothing voice.
December 24, 1944
"Lacy is it alright if I go over to Francis's house?" says Arthur. "Ya but come home in time for the church service." she says. Arthur heads out the door and walks to Francis's.
I'm keeping a good eye on Lieutenant Collins hoping that he is safe. He is working so far on training. There will be no fighting to giorno since it is Natale Eve and it will start back up on the 26th of December. Sometimes I even feel bad for.the Germans ya know with Hitler being their leader and all. But I hope the war cokes to an end soon.
At Francis's house there is a big albero in the living room and his mom and set up red and green streamers on the stair railings. "Wow your mum likes to decorate." says Arthur in awe as he walks in. "Ya she is that kinds person I guess." says Francis shrugging. Arthur sits on the divano and Francis sits successivo to him. "I want to give te your Natale present early Arthur." says Francis getting up. "Ok if te say do." says Arthur lying down on his thinking tht Francis's present was sex, but it wasn't. "Here." says Francis handing Arthur a box wrapped in silver paper. Arthur opens it and he finds a shield on a silver chain. On the shield it has Arthur's name engraved on it. Arthur face lights up. "Wow Francis this amazing I Amore it." says Arthur taking it out of the box. Francis helps put it on Arthur. "I'm sorry Francis but I didn't get te anything." says Arthur feeling ashamed. He lowered his head and Francis says "You don't have to get me anything, all I need is te Artie." says Francis with a smile. Arthur looks up and kisses Francis deeply.
Francis lies down letting Arthur have top. Arthur still kisses Francis and Francis gives in to Arthur. They both take each others shirts off and when Arthur looks up and sees the clock. "7:30! Oh crap I have to go Francis." says Arthur putting his camicia on. "Oh ok." says Francis in a sad tone. Arthur walks out and heads home.
"Lacy I'm here!" shouts Arthur from the door way. Lacy comes and runs over to him and hugs him. "Uh are te ok? te seem upset." says Arthur hugging her back. "N-no I'm fine, just happy to see you." "Ok then should we go." says.
They head to the church service and after that they head out to eat. Lacy lets Arthur pick and they go to the restaurant and they eat then they go home.
January 1, 1945
Its New Years and Arthur is having Francis over. It is almost 12:00 and they get ready for it to be the new year. "10 9 8 7 6 5 4 3 2 1...HAPPY NEW YEAR!!!!" shouts Arthur with excitement in his voice. Francis smiles and kisses him. Arthur smiles and baciare Francis. They have a great time and then Francis has to leave. Now in the house it is just Arthur and Lacy.
Arthur goes over to Lacy and comforts her. "It's all right, he is going to be ok." says Arthur baciare her forehead. She grabs Arthur's arm and says "Arthur don't te dare leave me." she says in a serious tone. Arthur shakes his head and heads up stairs. He lies down and goes to sleep.
May 12, 1945
When Arthur went outside he heard people cheering and shouting. Arthur found a newspaper on the ground and here is what he read
GERMANY SURRENDERS TO WESTERN ALLIES AND THE SOVIET UNION.
Arthur reads on
Germany's leader Adolf Hitler has committed suicide and Giappone is not far behind.
Arthur is filed with excitement, so he runs all the way to Francis's house. He runs in the house when he is stopped da their maid. "Oh come on Maddie please let me through. I have to see him." says Arthur trying to push past her. "No Arthur he is very sick don't go near him please." Maddie pleads. Arthur doesn't listen he walks up to Francis's room. He knocks on the door and hears a faint come in. Arthur sits in a chair da his bed. "Are te ok man can te hear me?" asks Arthur in a hesitant vice. "Yes I'm fine and I can hear you." Francis says with a weak laugh. Then he coughs. Arthur gets him some water.
"So did te hear the news about Germany?" "Ya I did" he says sitting up. "Isn't that great?" says Arthur. "Ya it sure is." Francis coughs again. Arthur remembers when Alfred kept on coughing on the train. :Please Francis don't leave me." Arthur says in a low whisper. "I promise Arthur I will not leave you. "Can't make promises te can't keep." says a voice from the door way. They turn around and look at Maddie. Arthur just scoffs and walks out.
A YEARS PASS......
They war has ended, people die, people live. I sit up in the sky watching the living walk the earth and the dead to my left and right. And out of those who are dead
Arthur-died in a car crash (6/15/47) age 19
Francis-died of his sickness (8/5/45) age 15
Arthur was very sad when he heard the news that Francis was no longer with him. He stayed da his side until Francis died. Francis's last words were "Arthur I hope we can see each other soon, I Amore you." he detto with his dying breath. A tear fell down Arthur's cheek. Arthur kissed Francis one last and lets him go. I sit and watch them once più I take the sol of the boy that Arthur loved very dearly to his heart.
2 years later Arthur is hit da a drunk driver. He didn't see this coming but everyone has a time. When the news came to his parents and Friends they were sad. But when I was bending down to get him I saw a little smile on his face. I picked him up and he detto to me "I'm home." that made me smile and I sad "Yes te are."
Arthur is greeted da Francis and Alfred and they both say "Welcome home Arthur."
