She could feel it creeping up her ankle and legs. It was hardening, making it impossible for her to move. A laugh sounded as it went higher.
“Sorry Devin but things must be done. te must be taken out of the picture.”
“What did I do, Amber?!”
“You betrayed me! te left Sensai, te ha rubato, stola BACK your Angel's light, and te risked everything for one human! That betrayal will never be forgiven!”
“Amber...I'm sorry. I never meant to hurt te but I had to save him! He was my brother!”
“You think apologizing will help?! No! It's time te payed the price!”
“What do te plan to do when I'm gone?”
“Infiltrate. Sensai taught us that. So I'll play pretend.”
“They'll never believe you! They know te Amber!”
The crystal was up to her neck now.
“Oh I know. That's why I'll look like you.”
“No!”
“Oh yes. I told te everything was mine and would be!”
Amber touched the stolen collana on her neck.
“Goodbye Devin.”
“No!”
Devin sat up, panting. She looked around and took a deep breath. She was safe. It took a few minuti to regain her composure.
“Oh that was horrible.”
Devin slipped out of letto and over to her cabinet of herbs and potions. She pulled out a mix of cinnamon and vanilla bean, heating up some water. She put the mix in, feeling relaxed da the scent. She sat on the couch, feet pulled up. She drank the soothing mixture, a full moon mostrare through her window. She heard a knocking sound and waited a few minutes.
It didn't sound again. Devin went to the door and opened it. The mug spilled from her hand, crashing over the floor. A crystallized rose sat in front of her door. A note was attached to it. Say goodbye to your little friends, my Crystal Angel. I'm coming for you.

Somewhere in the Arctic, 4:49 a.m.
Nathan curled up on the rocky floor of the dark cave, protected from the snow for now. He'd found a piece of rock chipped off from the edges of the cavern and had somehow created a spark that had ignited into a flame. How it was sustaining, well, he didn't know. But it was keeping him warm, and for that he was grateful.
It suddenly dawned on him that he felt immensely drained, nearly useless. His cuore wasn't beating as fast as usuall. Pushing himself up, he went to find a pool of ice, to see what was wrong. What he saw shocked him: his hair had turned to it's orginal mocha hue, a sign of no powers.
He sighed, and realized with a jolt he was in a cave. A cave... and the last person he'd seen was the Batman's daughter. This small fact slightly amused him, but amusement turned to worry. "Fin..." he murmured. "Why can't te see past what I've done? Why can't te see that I Amore you?"
