your thoughts...?

my thoughts;

1.}
why is it wrong when an atheist says, "you're god isn't real," o "you should grow up & stop believing in fairy tales," but when christians insist on keeping "under god" in the pledge, "in god we trust" on money, forcing their beliefs into politics to ban things they don't agree with, like gay marriage, because it's "not natural" & "the bible says it's an abomination," that's perfectly fine? i cannot believe this jackass has the fucking audacity to say that atheists "wipe it in people's faces."

2.}
i have actually heard that some christians believe that atheists should not be able to vote, let alone be considered citizens. to christians {& other religions} their god is the one true god & everyone else's god & belief system is wrong, & bombard them with horrifying despicable threats.

3.}
oh yeah, the last paragraph is a real beauty...
"You should grow up and accept that some people's opinions differ from yours..." yeah, why don't te try telling that to people of different religions?

te know, i really don't have a problem with religion. if someone wants to be religious & believe in a "god," because it makes them feel good, then più power to them. but, the secondo te start shoving the bullshit down other people's throats & enforcing your belief system on others & try to force your way into politics in an attempt to make everyone believe the same way te do, then that's when i get pissed off.

anyway, my rant is over. i feel a little better now lol.

Atheism Risposte

There's not much I can add to what you've written, but wrt your secondo point, there's a cartoon from Funny Times that I searched for in order to post, but couldn't find. Anyway, it was about how the nation was patting itself on the back for accepting a Jewish person as a possible VP back during the 2000 presidential election. The secondo panel then went on to say that the nation will truly be tolerant when an atheist can be accepted as a candidate.

What the autore neglected to point out was how Christianity, o other monotheist religions, da their very nature, can't tolerate other belief (or non-belief) systems. It's a threat to their very existence.

jester is totally right, monotheists believe their God is the only God and only true savior, they believe in a "right" way of life, and Christians believe that te are going to hell for not believing therefore they are actually doing te a favor da trying to "save" te from hell and spiritual warfare. So, basically, they are compelled to teach te but not te them....idk if you're understanding what im saying....
anyways, religious o not religious, ANYONE can hold strong beliefs just like this guy in the paper who thinks theists are più accepting than atheists, i believe that the kind of person te are depends not on your belief system but your heart...in short some people will be hard headed and strong willed and others will be accepting and tolerant, te just gotta deal with it people :P

actually, some atheists are pretty much like Christians in that they believe that Cristianesimo and religion, ir WRONG and should be destroyed and everyone should become atheists, but regardless about how we feel, sometimes we have to learn to accept anyways to keep peace in society and to prevent war, i believe the world will evolve onit's own, hopefully for the better
