How do I deal with the teasing I get just for playing chess?

I've been playing chess since I was in first grade. I'm pretty good too. I recently won a medal for 88th place out of 300 people and my team won 2nd place in a tournament. Here's the problem. People think I'm a geek because of my Amore for the game. They say only nerds play chess. I'm fed up with it all. What should I do?
