"I really never understand why a lot of people think that this is one of the better Disney sequels because I honestly consider it one of the WORST! The story is a serious downgrade and underwhelming compared to the original (The same way that the sequel to The Hunchback of Notre Dame 2 was to the original), the songs are either unmemorable or a bad repeat of A Girl Worth Fighting For, it just barely qualifies as a musical, the message is horribly done because it's not just being forced to marry because of stupid tradition because the entire fate of China depends on this arranged marriage and that throws in something really serious, the conflict of the arranged marriages and being able to marry who they want was solved WAY too easily and not convincing AT ALL just like they did with Brave, Mushu becomes absolutely DESPICABLE, Shang becomes an asshole, Mulan becomes a forced follow your heart PSA and a stereotype of herself from the original movie and not entertaining at all, Mulan and Shang argue over little and petty things even when Mushu isn't trying to get them to that inforce gender stereotypes (Which is what the original movie was trying to go against), it's cheesy and forced, and the movements in the animation are so awkward.
Don't get me wrong, the animation is obviously good animation because the color palette is beautiful and the lines are smooth but the movements and expressions are awkward as hell. One particularly awkward moment was when Shang was yelling at Mulan after believing that Mulan was talking bad about him with the princesses outside his tent (If someone was going to gossip about you behind your back, that would be that last place they'd do it, you idiot). By gosh does that look awful! The expressions are too overly expressive and rubbery. The characters also don't look as mature as they did in the first movie. The movie also just completely lets China suffer because FOLLOW YOUR HEART! The planned third movie was actually supposed to deal with the consequences of that but the Disney stopped making Disney sequels and I guess we can just assume that they all died because of their f*cked up actions. In fact, watch the Nostalgia Critic's Disneycember review of this piece of sh*t because it basically sums up how I feel about it, with some disagreements. Also, this is the last sequel where I'm going to be using the Nostalgia Critic to explain how awful I think it is in this countdown.

I also just feel like talking about my next choice, which is Ariel's Beginning! It's not as awful as Mulan 2 but it is still really terrible and proves that animation doesn't make a movie good or bad. The whole music banned plot is idiotic and lame, the waste a perfectly good opportunity with doing a prequel to The Little Mermaid, Ariel's mother died in a stupid way (But I do like that were responsible for it), they focused more on the music being banned and ignored Athena being killed because of humans, the villain is lame and unmemorable, it was stupid that they didn't have the villain of the movie be Ursula because she said herself that she used to live in the palace, Flounder is the polar opposite of who he was originally, Sebastian would NEVER have a secret organization that is against Triton, the voice actor they got for Triton doesn't suit him at all, Triton is absolutely horrible in this movie and even worse than Rapunzel's father in the Tangled TV series, Aquata and Andrina are the only one of Ariel's sisters that are interesting (I even made my own article giving Ariel's sisters more fleshed out personalities because this movie did a poor job at that), the villain song is stupid (Also, how did Triton not figure out she was breaking his law with how she was doing the same a big musical number TWICE when music is BANNED), and the entire film is a style of substance thing. What people like are the songs, gorgeous animation, and other shallow things about the movie that is clearly unfaithful to the original movie and doesn't even follow the continuity of the original movie. The TV series is the FAR superior prequel and is better in every area except for the animation.
Return to the Sea was more creative, faithful, and original than Ariel's Beginning and it was literally just a remix of the original movie. But I do love the concept of Ariel having a daughter that was in love with the sea and wanted to be a mermaid. That is a genuinely interesting and creative idea, even if the execution isn't very well-done. But I still love the movie as a guilty pleasure despite being mediocre at best. Plus, Melody is tied with Jack Frost as my favorite fictional character of all time."
I think The Little Mermaid 2 is not as bad as people credited it to be. Sure the plot is kind of a copy from original movie and Ariel seems kinda hypocrite and oppose herself on the original movie, but the movie is better compared to other trash sequels.
