One of the (many) things we love about Disney movies is that they allow us to travel the world. Through our favorite movies, we are exposed to so many different countries, cities, and cultures. So, come with us while we take planes, trains, cars, spaceships, and talking taxis to all of the places we were first inspired to visit via Disney movies.
It’s always once upon a time in New York City. The city that never sleeps is filled with character
characters. The food is a stand out, so make sure to try Old Louie’s all-beef kosher franks. Also, the public transportation is so easy and efficient, so why should you worry?
One of the great marvels of the world are the ruins of the city of Machu Picchu in Peru. The temples and buildings of the ancient Incan civilization are made entirely of dry-stone and almost seem to appear and disappear into the fog. (No word on where the swimming pool was located.)
Whether you’re experiencing London from Basil’s point of view or from your own, there is so much to explore in one of the world’s most historical cities. From Big Ben to St. Paul’s, there’s so much London offers for humans and mice alike.
This tropical paradise offers so much: surf, sun, dancing, Elvis, potential alien life forms living as household pets—the list goes on. And what makes a relaxing vacation even more relaxing? Casual Hawaiian shirts and flip-flops. Just ask Walt Disney Animation Studios and Pixar Animation Studios president, John Lasseter.
There’s nothing better than waking up to the sound of bagpipes. The beautiful rolling green hills of the highlands make a picturesque setting for a horseback ride while you’re on your way to learn archery or woodcarving, while wearing a kilt.
The City of Angels was truly the place to be in the 1940s. The Golden Era of Hollywood saw Los Angeles bustling with life and glamour. From any point in the city, you’re in easy driving distance from the beach, the mountains, and ToonTown. Just watch out for The Dip.
Paris. The City of Lights. A place where massive festivals celebrating the uniqueness within us all take over entire city blocks. A magical place filled with birds and talking gargoyles. This is a place you’ll be so happy to explore, you’ll want to sing from the bell towers!
Let’s take a trip back in time. Medieval England was a mystical land filled with castles, vast open fields, (and most importantly, enchanted weaponry stuck in rocks). It would be so much fun to witness the magic and history of this time period, and the good news for us is that the English countryside remains fairly untouched since the days of Arthur and Merlin.
One of Disney’s original travel-based movies, Donald and his pals show us the magic and history of America’s neighbor to the south. With mariachi music and (for some reason) flying carpets, we immediately want to hop a flight right after watching.
Where are some other places Disney movies made you want to explore? Tell us below in the comments!
