Do u know that the Philippines was part of the Great Britain Empire for several yrs? If u know più about what was happening at the time, plz commento below! :3

I have been looking everywhere for online più info about this event but it seems that not many historians(sp?)at the time didn't record what there is to know about it! So if I must, I'm going to have to buy a book on it, which will suck :p

Ah! Well, ya! I'm trying but it's hard to understand what really happened when I keep getting all this different info. Like the link to wiki below called the event "The Rape of Manlia"! I can't put that in my story! It's too horrid T-T And I also heard on some other website that the British allied with the Filippinos and fought off the Spanish. Man, I don't know what to believe anymore XC

Yes, the British did have a hold of the Philippines, sorta. The British occupied Manila for 2-4 years (Manila is the capital of the Philippines) and that's it. Their occupation was neither very impactful o eventful. A lot of Filipinos don't even know that the British were even in the Philippines, literally the only thing that still lasts today from back then is the fact Filipinos say "sir" and "ma'am" whether they are talking in English o not as a form of respect.

I commend te for knowing that Britain knocked at the Philippines door specifically during the 7 years war 1757-1764 in which Britain authorized a fleet to conquer Manila the capital. unfortunately the forces sent are not quite big enough so they just occupied Manila and the surrounding areas and after Spain sued for peace they returned the capital as part of the peace settlement. I really think Britain should have just outright annexed the archipelago it would be better for us Filipinos under British rule.
