HOUSE CONVENTON 2008 

Okay, so I'm sure the subject line of this thread has gotten people pretty excited on it's own. We all know how shows like Star Trek, anime, games, and comics have conventions worldwide - so why not House M.D.? Over on the Fox House forums about 5 months ago, a group of fans decided that we wanted to try to put together a fan convention of our own.



Some of the members (as well as people outside the forums) have connections with Fox, and they have met and spoken with the PR department to express our interest. The response from Fox was very positive! The plan so far is to hold the convention next spring, during the May "Upfronts", when many of the cast members/crew will be in New York, hammering out future plans and such. This makes it quite convenient for them to perhaps visit our humble convention! We would really like to hold the convention in Princeton, New Jersey, and the city's Chamber of Commerce has expressed willingness to sponsor the event, should that happen. An alternative would be New York.

A large part of the Convention is going to be to raise money for the charity Save the Children (who recently celebrated their 75th anniversary!) We sent a letter of intent to STC, and as of August 10th, we have their official endorsement of the Con. As an officially sanctioned fundraising event, our efforts are now much more credible to Fox. Cheers!! We are working on coming up with ideas to do this, but if any of ya'll can think of something, please let me know! (On a slightly more selfish note - this increases our chance of getting Hugh Laurie, or even BFTV, as guests for the Con. What a thought!)

Cuddy's Cuddy (BettyLoud or Nancy) is doing great work in putting together musical, dance, and skit performances as entertainment. Your's truly is also involved in this aspect of the con. We're working on putting together a couple swing numbers as well as several skits involving fans acting out the show's characters. It's going to be awesome! Nancy is also our main contact with Fox's PR department and she's also known at the Fox affiliate in D.C., so we really owe her so much! We're also hoping to put together a little artshow - elicia8, I'm looking at you! And all the other wonderful fanartists, of course - you guys are so incredibly talented!

A website is currently in the works, so hopefully that will help us get even more organized!

There is a petition up for everyone to sign and show their support of a 2008 Convention - you can find it here! Fans at the UK site Devoted to Hugh Laurie have been a huge help in getting the word out, so kudos to them! HouseMDGuide.com has also helped publicize our efforts (via their News section), and we've even got HughLaurie.net in on the craze! Oh, and Mr. Andrew Holtz, well-known medical journalist, House fan, and the author of The Medical Science of House M.D., has signed the petition! He sent an email to Goodship_a_k and Jacky offering to give us autographed copies of his book for auction and to speak at the convention. His credits include CNN, PBS, and local news outlets in Portland, Oregon and Anchorage, Alaska; he's also the author of many articles and books on health and well-being.

Big thanks should go out to Pam (housecall) and Jacky, Cuddy's Cuddy, TDenton, Karen (Goodship_a_k), Traci (Dreamer), and Nancy of the Fox House Forums - they are some of the major masterminds and voices of support behind all this! I am going to speak to them about getting contact information up here - I'm not sure how they would feel about me posting their e-mails without them knowing. :) So look out for those soon! Of course, there are also many people outside the forums involved, and they are equally deserving of our gratitude for their time and effort!

I'm so happy to be on board and a part of this convention team! This has a lot of promise, and it's going to be great.
