Anime Expo hosted the film\'s world premiere on July 3 in Los Angeles. Shinkai attended the screening. The film opened in Japan on Friday.
film\'s "story of miracles and love" revolves around Mitsuha and Taki. Mitsuha is a female high school student who lives in a rural town nestled deep in the mountains. Her father is the mayor and isn\'t at home much, and she lives with her elementary school-aged little sister and her grandmother. Mitsuha has an honest personality, but she doesn\'t like the customs of her family\'s Shinto shrine, nor does she like her father participating in an election campaign. She laments that she lives in a confined rural town, and yearns for the wonderful lifestyle of living in Tokyo. Taki is a male high school student who lives in central Tokyo. He spends time with his friends, works part-time at an Italian restaurant, and is interested in architecture and fine arts. One day, Mitsuha has a dream where she is a young man. Taki also has a dream where he is a female high school student in a town in the mountains that he has never been to. What is the secret to their dreams of personal experience?

This omnibus volume slows things down a bit from the heady days of the Welcome Race, but its exploration of the cast\'s emotions proves just as interesting. ― Competitive sports are a divisive pasttime, which is especially strange because they really don\'t have to be. Some anime come with 13 episodes (or more) crammed on a single bluray disc - is that really enough space to maintain HD picture quality? Justin gets into it. ― Mike (Toole) asks: How much anime will fit on a single Blu-Ray disc? Is a single BD-50 really enough for 13 episodes of subtitled 1080p anime? Please tell me! Galko-chan Episodes 1-12 Streaming
Rose Bridges takes a look at this underrated short gag series from earlier in the year and discovers a surprisingly educational (and filthy) anime like nothing else out there. ― When I was in high school, there was one huge girls\' bathroom in the main hallway. These stories and their characters are immediately familiar to audiences around th...

Most anime may not be as mainstream in Japan as we would like to believe, but what about manga?
