I Can't Control Fate

I can hear it... The beating of my heart
Can you hear it?... My heart pounding in my chest?
I can feel it... The blood rushing in my veins
Can you feel it?... My blood rushing to keep life in me
I can hear my lungs... Going fast as I take each rasped breath
Can you hear it?... My rapid breath all through the night
I can feel it... My body shutting down
Can you see it?... My body dying from the inside out
My breath is leaving my body... Life is leaving my body
As I lay here on this hospital bed, I know I am lifeless
I wonder... Will you miss me when I'm gone?
