Well, I'm not sure if you've heard any of these bands before, but...

Ancient Bards, Blind Guardian, Dark Moor, Dream Theater, Kamelot, Lacuna Coil, Lunatica, Mortal Amore (although as a heads up, the lead singer's voice *can* get annoying sometimes; I still enjoy their music, though), Therion, Two Steps From Hell.

All of those bands fall under the Rock/Metal genre with the exception of Two Steps from Hell, which is technically a classical group but they sound più like a movie soundtrack than actual classical music. xD I suggest their songs Freedom Fighters and The Strength of a Thousand Men to start out with.

Well it was already pretty obvious that I would suggest te Gowan :D! But te might not like it because it's old stuff xD... And it sounds old, te know, like 70s-80s Musica but since te want to try to stuff, try it :).
