SISTAR's Dasom encouraged to get a tan on 'SNL Korea'? 

SISTAR were the hosts for the 20th\'s episode of \'SNL Korea\'.

During one of the skits, the 4 SISTAR girls were kidnapped, and their kidnappers started bothering the girls about their trademark characteristics. At first, maknae 

Dasom defended her older members, but the situation changed when the kidnappers threatened to tan her!

The kidnappers said, "You\'re too pale by yourself. There\'s a spray tan that will make you darker." But Dasom refused, saying, "No way. If I get dark, I\'ll look cheap like the unnis." When

Hyorin got angry and said, "You said I was sexy because I was dark!", she responded, "You are sexy, but it\'s the cheap kind of sexy."

Fired up by her comments, the rest of her unnis got out of the ropes themselves, and spray tanned Dasom\'s face anyway, ending the skit with their trademark, "We the B-E-S-T SISTAR!".

I love Dasom\'s milky skin, so flawless and white, I actually can\'t stand fake tan, it looks, smells and feels dirty to me tbh.

Funny! To those who would consider of going out and getting a tan, don\'t even think of it. Your skin, left that color that nature intended it to be, will not leave you with wrinkles, and lesions, that will show up later due to overexposure to the sun, or harsh chemicals.  Accentuate what you have, because you want to be you for a long, long time...

Well what d oyou expect, when it comes down to the core women want nothing more than to please guys. They have all these surgeries around the world, these women wear all these make up painstakingly every morning, some of them get laser treatments for their hairs etc. They spend hundreds of dollars shopping for new clothes so they could please men, its a harsh sentence for them but they are gladly still doing all that, suffering shaving themselves, waxing themselves just so they could please men.

thats pretty funny . but here in cali we dig tan thats the healthy kinda look i suppose since it gives u the bronze sunkissed glow.xD but tanning salons are a no go for me or tanning booths

LOL that is awesome that they can poke fun at themselves.  But a serious question, in South Korea, is it really a bad/negative thing to be tanned?

Kinda, just b/c its a culture that appreciates paler skin more. In kpop groups, they always make fun of the darker members unfortunately

maybe the writer shouldn\'t use that skin issue for the skit.. well, you know what I means. everyone has the right to share their opinions right? maybe as a whole, the scene is funny but for me the sentence like "

if I get dark, I\'ll look cheap" is not funny at all... okay, the skit is something that\'s mean to be taken as a joke but before you start it, you have a chance to choose what type of joke to be shown right? writer-nim, why did you choose this kind of joke..

Skit y\'know, something that\'s meant to be taken as a joke, the \'haha that\'s so funny\' type thing, the \'laugh and move on\' type thing. Holy jesus...

aww... hearing dasom saying that tan people look cheap just made me really sad :(

It\'s a skit meaning it\'s scripted a.k.a NOT real!!! No need to get sad over that, like why can\'t you focus on the positive and be happy over the fact that the other 3 like tanned skin.

She was using comic satire similar to how a show like Family Guy or American Dad will often make a very crass joke not to belittle, but to shine a light on how stupid such attitudes are. It was a scripted joke in all likelihood as well and not a Dasom ad-lib. In the scenario presented it made sense as a pale young woman being teased she needs a tan would likely tease back at the tan person that they look cheap with theirs. It\'s a comedy show, so I wouldn\'t take it too seriously. In some ways I think they were poking fun at the Korean obsession with having pale skin when many Koreans are naturally much darker.

comeon guys, she looks the beautiest out of the 4 members... not that I mean bad with this, it\'s just that I that she don\'t need to get tan,..she have her own style in her group so it\'s better not to copy the other 3!!

Don\'t worry Dasom isn\'t going to get a tan. Her pale complexion is what most women in Korea aspire to, so having such a beautiful complexion as she does, opens lots of doors for skin care and cosmetics advertisements, acting gigs, and modeling gigs as it is the preferred look of those industries. It would take the culture going topsy-turvy before pale skinned models like Dasom, Suzy, Yoona, IU, etc. ran off to the self-tanner or started laying out in the sun all the time. Most idols are too busy to waste an hour tanning anyway. The only way I could see Dasom ever being tan would be because a role in a drama requires it such as playing a character in a period film that was a field worker early and somehow ended up in the royal court where the tan would fade, a noblewoman who due to some kind of bad luck like a war ended up having to work in the fields of her husband\'s fiefdom to help keep the estate solvent.

yeah darker hair colors suit her tone - like even lighter browns/chocolates. Pretty much any color she\'s had in the past.

You are right that the shade of blonde Hyorin is wearing is just not working for her. It\'s too light and has an uncomplimentary yellow in it. It seems like that is the real trick for Asian women that go blonde, finding a shade of yellow in the hair coloring that compliments their natural pigmentation rather than clashes with it. If Hyorin was really pale like Dasom and had her roots done, this might work. I think the center part and the way her hair looks like it has taken a beating from being bleached doesn\'t help either. It doesn\'t seem to have a healthy sheen to it. It looks stripped. She needs to go to a darker blonde with maybe some light highlights or a light brown with some dark blonde highlights that would go better with her tan skin as it would look a bit more like her hair was naturally sun-bleached rather than chemically bleached.
