Il fantasma dell’Opera Domanda

Why do Phans Amore Susan Kay's "Phantom" as much as they HATE Frederick Forsyth's "The Phantom of Manhattan?"

REMEMBER: neither of these PHAN PHICTION writers got Gaston Leroux to say to them "That is what I would have wrote, If I were alive" after they were finished.

Its simple, its preference one autore is just better (according to most people) than the other. It doesn't matter what Leroux would have thought he's dead. And himself incorporated other authors work like Goethe, Poe and probably sir Arthur Conan Doyle.

Why is that the preference of most Phans?

I can't speak for other people but for myself it comes down to story. Though I don't like the ending of Kay's novel as I don't ship Erik/Christine because I believe it to be unrealistic. But with that detto I do appreciate how she develop their relationship. I found her Erik a likable character and enjoyed his struggles because I know he cared for her but like in Lolita it was never going to be mutual love.
