Why does Maria Amore the Captain?

I am just trying to figure out why Maria fell in Amore with the Captain. I know why the Captian fell in Amore with Maria-she brought Musica back into his life and encouraged him to Amore his children and not avoid them. So, why did she fell in Amore with him back?
