I get that this mostra is mostly about couples, “ships,” but it is also about family. Maybe that is the point. He wants his family back because it is the only important thing of his immortal life.

The mostra has done an excellent job of slowly building the trust between these two until that trust and mutual attraction could only logically be dealt with in a kiss, as it finally was in the end of this episode.

No matter where te stand on the whole Elena/Damon/Stefan triangolo this moment has been building all season and needed to happen as it would be a disservice to these characters and the story if it didn't.

Listen, everyone knows I’m rooting for Stefan and Elena. But that doesn’t make me some dramatic weirdo who just cannot stand Damon and Elena together. Make it happen. I couldn’t care less. But do it in a way in which when I watch it

In a mostra with bloody deaths every week, and compulsion and whatever other fresh hell rushing through town, I just don't think this baciare is a huge betrayal. At this point, I wouldn't find a relationship between Elena and Damon a big betrayal.
