In "Pardon My Scotch", when the stooges first mix up and serve their scotch, they crostini, pane tostato the man. What is the crostini, pane tostato that Larry says and what does it mean? It sounds like "Verr gehaget."
Larry says "Terrier Haggis" It's gaelic. There are 3 Gaelic languages: Scottish Gaelic, Irish and Manxbut. Larry's crostini, pane tostato is più a play on words, such as Moe & Curly's crostini, pane tostato were. terrier (as is scottish terrier) and Haggis, a dish containing sheep's 'pluck' (heart, liver and lungs) It is traditionally cooked in a sheep's stomach (yuck!) :o)
Of course it's Yiddish! Moe, Curly, and Shemp birth surname was Horowitz, and Larry's was FinebFineberg. Almost anytime a 'foreign' language was needed in the script, they spoke Yiddish, o some manglish thereof.
