the article doesn't actually clarify that he is out or not. and that's not the official website for New Moon. I'm going to wait for a confirmation with Summit.

Gosh! I HATE when they do that! I don't care what reason it was that Solomon lost his role. It's going to annoy me, even though he had a VERY minor part, when I watch Twilight and then New Moon and it's two different people! *growl*

mandapanda..nooooo...? didn't it just say in bold 'FOR UNKNOWN REASONS, SOLOMON TRIMBLE HAS SUDDENLY LOST HIS ROLE'? but it's definetly NOT the official site and I ALWAYs wait for Summit's confirmation before believing anything. ^^ I just hope it's not true! His vioce was soo good!!

Isn't it discrimination for someone to lose a job b/c of their nationality as well as to get a job simply b/c of their nationality? Shouldn't we be looking deeper than that? Shouldn't the best person for the job get it? I don't remember any women protesting & outraged that John Travolta took a woman's role in Hairspray.

While I think that recasting characters between movies is extremely annoying, and that discrimination is wrong, I never really thought that Solomon was Sam Uley. Sam is a strong character, with a peaceful, yet powerful authority. He is also tall and bulky (like the other werewolves/"shape shifters") and has his hair cut. In the Twilight movie, he was shorter than Taylor (if I remember correctly), and he looked a little bit weak. For me, all he had going for him in regards to being Sam Uley was the fact that he was Native-American.

Although MissM, in regards to your Hairspray comparison, I believe that the role of Edna Turnblad has always been played by a man (in the original movie, and on Broadway, etc).

Right! He never really WAS a 'Sam' to me. And isn't he supposed to have cropped hair because he cut it? Hm...I think they should have considered the role a little more. It's going to look odd when Solomon (if he's in the movie) has his little muscles next to Taylor's HUGENESS!!! lol

Granted, my comparison (off the top of my head) didn't quite carry the weight I was looking for, however I think you get the point -- an actor should not be knocked out of his role merely b/c of his heritage.

Yeah, I understand what you were going for; I just thought I would point out that little detail.
