“How did Becca end up in the Rocky Mountains?!”
“That girl. She must have been able to teleport,” Devin deduced.
“Yeah. But why take her there?”
“I'm not sure Robin. There must be some connection. We'll have to go over there and find out.”
“All of us?”
“Yeah. I'm just not sure what the connection is. It seems too easy. But if we leave now, we can make it there da sunrise. The girls and I will take our air craft. We'll meet te guys there.”
“Sounds like a plan.”
“C'mon girls,” Devin ordered. “We have a Sparrow to rescue.”
“Oh I hope it ain't from cats,” Erin answered. “Bad mix. Harsh time for the cats.”
Devin gave Robin a reassuring smile before they girls left and Young Justice was left standing for several seconds.
“We should go,” Robin said.
“I'll get the bio ship ready.”
Megan flew off and the others just stood there in silence. Kaldur stepped forward, placing a hand on Robin's shoulder.
“You need not worry my friend. Becca is a strong warrior. She will be alright. We will find her.”
“I'm not worried because of that.”
“Then what troubles you?”
“I-I have this strange feeling that something is going to happen. To me and Becca. But I'm just not sure what it is.”
“You're probably just worried about her,” Artemis decided. “Your nerves can change your way of thinking.”
“Maybe.”
“Becca will be fine,” Kaldur assured. “She always is. And we'll find her. As for the two of you, te needn't worry. If te both truly Amore each other, then te have nothing to fear.”
Becca took another deep breath, the scent of ciliegia blossoms filling her senses. Tears flew freely down her cheeks as she buried her head in her mother's neck. She was pushed away slightly so Kendra could look at her daughter.
“Oh Becca. Look zappa beautiful you've become! Just like the fiore we named te after.”
At Becca's confused look, Luna handed her the black rose she'd been given. At a nod from the Queen, Luna explained.
“This is the Rebecca flower. See how it's closed up and sharp with thorns? That's the outer shell of it. Give it a gentle stroke.”
Becca gently put her finger on the soft petals, running her finger over it like water. The fiore opened up and the inside was a deep purple. The center was cuore shaped and filled with what could be oro dust.
“This is the inside. From the outside, it would seem such a useless little thing. The runt te could say. But the inside makes it a jewel to all who see it. And then te figure out that this fiore isn't so bad as te thought. Just wary of life. But one person can make the difference. This is the Rebecca flower's tale. And this is what te were named for.”
Becca looked into Luna's eyes. They were sincere and clear. Becca looked back to the fiore and held it close. A smile spread on her lips.
“So I'm a gem in a sea of flowers?”
“Becca, te are the Jewel of Attalin,” Kendra answered. “That is your birthright, your title. Even when we were not alone, that was always you. The Jewel of Attalin. The people gave te that name because they could see how wonderful te are. Just like the Rebecca flower.”
“Hmm. I miss them.”
“Who darling?”
“My family.”
Kendra brought her daughter close to her, baciare the superiore, in alto of her head.
“They would not want us to mourn for them my dear. Not when we have each other. But I have one surprise for you.”
