It was between him, Eric, and Beast. Since Eric jumped onto a burning ship to save his dog along with stabbing ursula with a with a boat during a massive storm, he had to stay, and Beast saved Belle from the wolves and battled Gaston, so he hod to stay to.

Compared to those, John Smith did nothing. Okay, he jumped into the path of a bullet for a man he barley knew. That was more instinctive, since that was his love's dad. Eric didn't have to go back for Max, and Beast didn't have to save Belle, but they did. Plus, they do two major acts of bravery, while John Smith does only one. Sorry John!

I didn't feel like he did much. But I can see how Beast was also pretty wimpy.

i've hesitated with John Smith, but he was ready to die instead of Thomas . He protected him even if he knows he would die for this . That's very brave
