Users have been picking their least preferito character for each round. Thank te to all of te who took part in this countdown! So here are the results:
19. The Matchmaker
I was so surprised this stern lady o man left first... yeah not really. Nobody liked her because she is the most loathsome character in the movie and she isn't truly important to the plot to begin with.
Comments
''I could see the movie doing very well without even exposing the audience to the matchmaker, let alone her snobbish, inconsiderate tendencies. Mulan could have just walked out of her place where the reception was held in a minor mood, distressed, broken and complessivamente, generale down which would have been enough of an indication that something went wrong.''
- maryksand
''Possibly the worst character in a Disney Princess movie. She's definitely up there, regardless.''
- Mongoose09
18. Little Brother
He's one of the good guys, nobody detested him but yet again, nobody loved him. The movie would've been the same without Mulan's dog. He's a forgettable character and his character design isn't anything great either.
Comments
''He's pointless to the plot development, he's not structured as a character, and his animazione kinda looks like a kid drew him.''
- Flutey_Girl96
''The dog is just useless. I have rather an unlikable character who works in the movie as an useless one.''
- Swanpride
17. First Ancestor Fa
I guess people just didn't like him.
Comments
''I'm not too keen on him.''
- BelleAnastasia
''He hated Mushu.''
- princecatcher93
16. Chi Fu
He plays a pretty big role in Mulan, I don't think he should've left so soon. Some say he was funny and entertaining, others just hated him. No wonder his name means ''to bully''.
Comments
''I like them all now including this guy but that's mainly because of yao's lyric Canto to Mulan in 'a girl worth fighting for'.''
- LatinoLollipops
''I Amore Chi Fu! I hope he doesn't leave.''
- Popcornfan
15. Falcon
He's kind of badass but all he does is act as Shan Yu's eyes and ears from the distance. And towards the end of the movie, he gets burned da Mushu, literally.
Comments
''The falcon's design was what was keeping me from choosing him before this guy.''
- LatinoLollipops
''Not really important o funny.''
- starlight77
14. General Li
He's not a very notable character. He's Shang's father but we didn't see much of a father/son relationship. più like a general/soldier relationship.
Comments
His character was pretty memorable but as everyone has already pointed out, he didn't contribute much to the story progression aside from being Shang's father and offering him a honorable position of a captain.
- maryksand
''I just dislike him, I have this irrational hate for him. I think its the way he seems to view Shang as an animal he is raising to win a prize in a fair. (Ok, that's not being fair to General Li, but that is the feeling I get from him.)''
- rhythmicmagic
13. Fa Li
She's motherly and a likeable character. It's really just that she's not important to the plot. She just helps Mulan bring ''honor'' to the family.
Comments
''She's a bit of a "nothing" character to me; I don't feel anything for her. She's simply just there.''
- milky-way
''The movie wouldn't be any different without her IMO (I'm not saying she's a bad character, just not one with massive impact).''
- Mongoose09
12. Ling
He's my preferito out of the human sidekicks because he makes me laugh the most. But he was a tease to Mulan and that's one of the reasons why I think some thought he was irritating. On the other hand, others loved him!
Comments
''Ling really deserves to go on further than this.''
- AllegroGiocoso
''I can't stand him.''
- BraBrief
11. Cri-Kee
He's cowardly and Ribelle - The Brave at the same time. He helps Mushu a lot and has his funny moments but I think that's about it.
Comments
''Cri-Kee is important! It totally cracks me up that he thinks he isn't lucky, but nevertheless everyone has luck in this movie.'' ''I think it's kind of funny that Cri-Kee is a side kick for a side kick.''
- Swanpride
''He may be cute and a bit funny, but he doesn't have a lot of quality characteristics.''
- Flutey_Girl96
10. Khan
I disagree with people who say he wasn't important, he saved Mulan and Shang during the avalanche. Most cavalli are helpful actually and he is one intelligent one. I Amore the chemistry between him and Mulan. But he doesn't have much character and it's obvious why.
Comments
''Khan has to go, he is really funny but he isn't an important character. Sorry Khan.''
- shanyuisboss
''Khan doesn't have a huge impact on me either, but he makes me laugh.''
- Mongoose09
9. Yao
People weren't too fond of him, he is hot tempered and clumsy. He can be very funny but there's not a lot of good things to say about him just like the other two.
Comments
''I like the three as a team, but as seperate characters...not so much.''
- Swanpride
''Eh bit of an idiot.''
- milky-way
8. Chien-Po
He's the kindest of the trio so I suppose that's why he got further. He's really pacify and loves food. A woman who can cook is the most attractive thing to him. The one thing he did that was very helpful was pick up all the soldiers to save Mulan and Shang.
Comments
''I find him kind of annoying.''
- BelleAnastasia
''Boring character.''
- BraBrief
7. The Emperor of China
He didn't do much, that was shown in the movie that is. He has some of the best Citazioni in Mulan but that can only get te so far. He has very good judgement and he's pretty funny. He's the one who told Shang to go after Mulan and it looks as if he secretly dislikes Chi Fu too, poor Chi Fu.
Comments
''Not really a huge fan of him. He says one of the best lines in the movie, "The fiore that blooms in adversity is the most rare and beautiful of all" but other than that I can't connect with him as a character.''
- Mongoose09
''I'm not so impressed with the Emperor. He has his moments, though...''
- Popcornfan
6. Fa Zhou
He is war veteran and a strict traditional father. Honor is one of the most important things to him. Though he is still sympathetic since he comforts Mulan after she failed the Matchmaker's test. There are moments where he is just the sweetest father and other moments where he is not so sweet. The father-daughter scene at the end was so touching.
Comments
''Fa Zhou; Mulan's father has so many great lines and character development!''
- Popcornfan
''Doesn't have as much impact to me as the other characters. I like him, though.''
- Mongoose09
5. Shan Yu
One of the più terrifying Disney Princess villains! He's ruthless, merciless, confident and he cracks jokes at times. But people thought that he wasn't well developed and that he had no back-story.
Comments
''He has no character development, he's just a baddie who wants to take over China for no apparent reason - most good villains have a little of a back-story which could give us an idea as to why they're destroying the world o something like that, but this guy? None.''
- Flutey_Girl96
''He lacks presence for a villain.''
- Popcornfan
4. Grandmother Fa
She certainly isn't afraid to voice her mind and she has a spunky personality. She supposedly has a connection with the ancestors and she also provides comedic relief in the family. Pretty awesome character!
Comments
''Grandmother Fa is awesome, but compared to the rest of the characters, left in the countdown, she doesn't really do much o say anything of utter importance.''
- BelleAnastasia
''Grandmother Fa is a really memorable side character, despite having not particular much screen time.''
- Swanpride
3. Shang
One sturdy and strict captain/soldier. He likes getting things his ways. He is reserved and thoughtful at the same time. He changed his visualizzazioni in a believable way, there's really più to him than meets the eye. I think that he has one of the best voices and that he also sings one of the most exciting songs of Disney.
Comments
''Shang is hot ;) but also a good person, teacher and warrior.''
- Flutey_Girl96
''I Amore the development of his character. I Amore how he starts out with being captain kind of going to his head, but in the end te see he's a really selfless guy with a great heart. He's a really strong leader, and I Amore his character development.''
- rhythmicmagic
2. Mushu
Mushu is Mulan's closest companion but they are opposites. He is in most situations comical, overconfident, and impulsive. He also strives to be one of the family guardians again and it worked out in the end. I don't know what the creators were thinking when they made Mushu but he turned out to be such an interesting character.
Comments
I Amore Mushu too very much, his changing during movie, he is funny and actually deserves his own sidekick :)
- fiina
He is entertaining, but he can get in the way sometimes, and I personally prefer Cri-Kee.
- rhythmicmagic
1. Mulan
She is autonomous, modest, valiant and dogmatic. She was willing to give up her life to save her father's and go through some intense training. It supposedly takes a lot of testosterone to succeed in the army but Mulan managed to use her brain instead. She also saved everyone twice and don't think Shan Yu was an easy target. She is highly intellectual. She was insecure, felt like a failure and did not know her place and I'm sure most can relate to her. She is just one of the most astute and cunning characters I can think of.
Comments
''Brave, loyal, funny, and a kick butt hero! I Amore her, she is an amazing role model. She is definitely a realistic character that everyone can relate to!''
- shanyuisboss
