What happens to the nine-tails when Naruto dies?

When Naruto dies, what happens to the nine tails? Does it die along with it, is it released back into the world o what?

Oh so like if he dies the nine-tails will uses his body as his own... Naruto's soul will be gone but his body will still be there with the volpe inside? Is that right

I expect it would die because when Naruto fought Kabuto in part 1, he nearly died and the volpe couldn't do anything and he sounded surprised and confused about this. I also think only the Juubi has enough power for him to re-emerge from his dead host.
