How can I get screencaps from a DVD without putting the disc in the DVD-ROM drive?

Because my drive went caput and I can't afford a new one.

I'll read any risposte te can give me, o any links that te think might help, no matter how complicated, ridiculous, o expensive the solution might be. (Hey, I detto I'd read them. I didn't say I'd try them all.) But don't say to take a picture of the TV screen. I've tried it. It doesn't work. (Yes, I've gotten that desperate.)
