why did foxface eat the nightlock berries?

I think the reason why she ate the berries was because she had a really clever idea, but some one foolish accidently mucked it up. She had followed Peeta to see what Cibo and berries she could eat da watching him. When Peeta picked the poisonous berries, obviously planning on eating them, she assumed they must be sicuro, cassetta di sicurezza to eat. So she picked a handful and ate them, which Killed her in less than a minute. Katniss stopped Peeta from eating them just in time before he ate a berry.

Peeta picked them from a plant, mistaking them for being harmless. He lied them down on a coat/blanket? Of some sort. And FoxFace also mistook them for being harmless, because she thought if whoever had picked them would put them down, they were eatable. So, she ate them. And since they were nightlock, she ended up dying. Though it doesn't actually tell te the reasoning, that's my guess xD.

I think she could have possibly committed suicide because all the people left were pretty much killers. I believe everyone else in the arena had already killed at least one person on record.

If I recall correctly, she saw Peeta picking them so she thought that they were sicuro, cassetta di sicurezza to eat, but she was wrong.

well i think that she was desperate for food, and when she saw Peeta picking the berries she must probably wasn't thinking with her hunger taking over, so she ate the berries

Ok so there are two explanations:
1. Peeta was collecting the berries and thought they were harmless and Foxface ha rubato, stola some when his back was turned. The nightlock might not have been mentioned during training and it might not grow in District 5 so this is possible but..
2. Foxface knew what the berries were and ate the berries to commit suicide, she might have known she wouldn't win because even though she was smart Cato would have overpowered her in a fight and Katniss could easily shoot her from a distance. Suicide is obviously not something the Gamemakers want to happen (As Katniss and Peeta prove) so her suicide would have to be sneaky otherwise her family/friends would pay (Like Haymitch's girlfriend, mother and brother did because he used the forcefield.) The nightlock berries would be the perfect opportunity to commit suicide. This explanation is the most likely as Fixface really would be smarter than the rest of them.

Well, as she wasn't planning on killing anyone, she didn't have many supplies (including food). so she ha rubato, stola from other people. in her backpack was food, but she knew it wasn't enough for her to last the whole Hunger Games. as she was following Peeta she saw him collect berries. maybe from desperation, o maybe because she thought Peeta knew his plants, she ha rubato, stola some and ate some. Within secondi she was dead.

Her way of surviving in The Hunger Games was to pick off little bits and pieces of Cibo from the other tributes- not so that it was suspicious, but enough so that she could live. When Peeta accidentally collected the Nightlock berries, she automatically assumed that they were sicuro, cassetta di sicurezza because Peeta was prepared to eat them. I guess that it was a simple mistake not to double check herself, which unfourtanately got herself killed. :(

I think that she didnt want to kill anyone but still win. When she realized that this wasn't possible, she killed herself. She's the smartest! Why else would she eat em?

Foxface didn't fight, she ha rubato, stola Cibo and stayed out of the others' way. te saw in the book/movie that she was stealing the Careers Cibo when it was still though. She was following behind Peeta, planning to steal his Cibo like she ha rubato, stola their's. She didn't know it was poisonous.

i think because she was hungry and she needed something to eat and she saw peeta picking thm off the cespuglio, bush so she tht i mmight be ok to eat

It wasn't the fact that Foxface thought Peeta could survive on his own da knowing witch berries to eat. Peeta says in the book, " I'm sorry Katniss. I really thought they were the ones te were eating."
And da the ones she was eating, he meant the ones Rue gave Katniss before she died. Nightlock is extreamaly simalar to those.Foxface didnt know.=)

The answer that makes the most sense is that she saw Peeta planning to eat the berries and thought they were safe. However, people have speculated that she knew the berries were poisonous and committed suicide. Those are just two possible reasons; the real reason is never discovered.

There can be two reasons
1: She didn't have più Cibo and she desparetly need something. We she saw Peeta take the berries, she thought it was alright
2: She wanted to make suicide

Read the book! The movie doesn't fully make sense unless te read the book. The book clearly states that Foxface was killed because she survived da being sneaky/stealing food. She figured the berries were sicuro, cassetta di sicurezza because Peeta was gathering them to eat. I didn't like the movie...it felt slapped together without enough thought. They could've done più with it...but oh well. Read the book...it's worth it.

i think she ate the berry since she came to a realization that she wouldnt win because if she didnt eat it peeta wouldve gotten hungry and ate one then katniss wouldve seen him die and place fiori then the mutts wouldve came killed katniss and foxface and cato wouldve won, o cato wouldve killed both of them and she maybe thought it was worth saving two lives than one and she had hope they would defeat cato and and since her death was pain less she detto why not

In the book: The Hunger Games, Katniss almost ate the berries until a thought came to her(her father warned her about those berries, before he died in the Seam) and she spit them out because they were poisonous, foxface wasn't as aware of the nightlock berries as Katniss was, and no matter what the Capitol would never put those berries easy to find in the training center: on the computer screen and foxface was going to steal their food, which wasn't even meant to be a trap, she ate the berries and she died because she didn't think they would store poisonous food, and in the book Katniss told Rue she would keep them just in case and then after she died, she found Peeta and warned him they were poisonous too, basically anybody could've eaten those berries and foxface was probably low on supplies and was gonna eat everything because of her hunger, she probably didn't even give it a secondo thought based on her hunger, that's why she ate those berries, hope this helped :)

She was in the finals, I'm assuming she had a wound that she treated but soon realized she would have Katniss at her tail for the final kill (since Katniss was a worthy foe) so she committed suicide ending her life herself, on her time, her grounds. So that Katniss couldn't have her as a kill (which she seemed to see was right around the corner considering all Katniss had done so far) so she's rather have her life ending on her grounds, and with her hands, then on somebody elses ground, with their hands.

Well, Foxface was very smart and she must have thought Peeta was quite intelligent. Foxface may even have a crush on him I don't know. Then Foxface assumed that the berries were sicuro, cassetta di sicurezza to eat because Peeta was getting them. She probably was trying to find some snacks in case she was hungry. She may have been in a lot of stress and without thinking eaten nightlock.

She was seeing if she could trick Peeta and Katniss into eating something they shouldn't have, o she knew she couldn't win so she killed herself. The answer will never be clear...

I think she did that because she followed Peeta around to see what kind of Cibo he got. So when he picked up the berries she might've thought since he was going to eat them then it was okay for her to have some.

Well I think she did it for suicide like katniss and peeta because she knew she would probably be the first to die in the last 5 so she ate the Berries. That's what I think happend because at the training she was doing that computer thingy on the plants and berries and all that stuff anyway im just saying

I wish that she would've lived too. If Katniss and Rue had died, she would have been the girl that I wanted to win. She probably only ate the berries because she had saw Peeta with them and assumed that they were safe, even though she was good with plants. Even Katniss had thought during her almost-thristing-to-death time that they were a berry that she recognized, so Foxface might have thought the same and didn't take a secondo look at them before eating them.

She didn't know they were poison. She was living da eating the other tributes' Cibo supply and thought those were just regular berries that peeta and Katniss were eating

Because nightlock looks like an edible plant.
Peeta collected the nightlock, so Foxface thought that they were edible, even if it was Peeta who messed up.
PS, if Foxface was alive, that would mean that Katniss and Peeta would be dead and there wouldn't be two più libri in the Hunger Game trilogy, unless the Capitol rules in the Underworld as well.

I honestly think that she did it on purpose. I mean, foxface was smart, she KNEW they were poisonous.. She also knew what the Capitol was doing was wrong.. She didn't want to win if it meant killing others and she knew she couldn't otherwise, so she killed herself (Just what i think though)

So it's a bit complicated, but when Peeta went to pick stuff off the bushes while Katniss was hunting, Foxface had followed Peeta and assumed the berries he had picked (which he had no idea were harmful) were harmless. Peeta left some on his giacca and picked more. Foxface had taken a few from his giacca and ate them and followed him a bit più and died. Hope that helped. :3

I now came up with a new solution which might help solve this :D
If te look at the amount of berries Foxface had in her hands, te can figure out if she did commit suicide. Howls this helpful? Foxface only took a little bit of her opponent's supply to not make it obvious that she took some. But if she was to kill herself, possibly, she would've had a big handful of berries knowing that she would die. You're welcome :3

When Peeta was looking for food, he found the nightlock berries and picked them up, not knowing they were harmful. Foxface saw the berries, and ate some which killed her. Luckily Katniss saved Peeta from eating the berries :)

i think she ate them because she was super hungry and the hunger was messing with her brain and she couldn't think properly.

To be blunt, I think the film makers messed up da putting in a scene of Foxface excelling at an edible plants stage during training. I can't remember any mention of that in the book.

Her strategy was to hide and to follow the other tributes stealing their food. She saw Peeta gathering the nightlock berries and ha rubato, stola some, along with other Cibo like a bit of the cheese. She had no idea they'd be poisonous. There might have also been similar looking edible berries in the arena, to confuse people.

I don't believe she committed suicide that way. Why would she? If her strategy from the start would be hiding, stealing Cibo and hoping the fighting tributes would kill each other off, that strategy was still possible at the time.

Foxface was clever, cunning, and starving, so stealing Cibo from their stash made sense.

Since Foxface and Thresh are absent for most of the games, and since Foxface eats the berries right after Thresh’s death, some have theorized they had a romance o alliance and she committed suicide when he died. This is fun to think about, but doesn’t make sense, because Katniss calls Foxface’s dead body “emaciated,” but of Thresh, she said, “I remember him as big, but he seems più massive, più powerful than I even recall. If anything, he seems to have gained weight in the arena.”

yeah, i also realized that after peeta left katniss to get the nightlock i heard a sound. a sound that lets te know who is dead. volpe face could have won but thanks to those devilish berries she couldnt.

I think that volpe face knew that they where night lock and poisonous but she also was smart enough to know Cato could kill her in a secondo and that peers and katniss didn't want to kill anyone so she ate the berries so peeta and katniss could win because she knew about the rebellion against the Capitol the whole games

I personally think it was suicide. Like te detto she was training and identifying different plants and mosses, she clearly knew about these berries.
