said goodbye to Cami in an emotional hour-long goodbye. And if that wasn’t enough to get you crying, that episode also ended with a second death when Kol bit Davina. And yet, as
showrunner Michael Narducci told EW after the hour, Davina might be physically dead, but her story isn’t over just yet.
Because Davina is a powerful New Orleans witch, there is a chance she could be resurrected. And that’s the focal point of tonight’s hour.” Davina has won the hearts of quite a few of the characters, so they’re going to do their best to bring her back,” Danielle Campbell says, adding, “But nothing on this show’s easy so I’m guessing there’s going to be some setbacks along the way.”
As the promo has teased, while Marcel and company work to bring Davina back, she’ll come face-to-face with the ancestors responsible for her death. “They’re angry at her because she actually stood up to them,” Campbell says. “I love that about Davina. She’s so strong and she doesn’t let anyone push her around. This episode, you really see that and you see her not even try and skate around the ancestors to avoid them, but she really takes them head-on and I think it’s going to be a really, really exciting episode for her.”
And for those of you wishing you’d had more Marcel-Davina time this season, this episode could fill that quota. “You’re going to get your Marcel-Davina fix because he’s her family,” Campbell says. “He’s been the one who’s protected her since the first episode.”
But what does that mean for Kol, the man who loves Davina (but accidentally killed her)? “She knows that he wasn’t himself,” Campbell says. “The whole reason that he was being hidden in there was because he was starting to become possessed by the ancestors, so she knows it wasn’t his fault. She loves him more than anything, that’s why she’s gone through so much trouble to save him again and again.”
Altogether, Campbell says the hour is “really sweet because we get to see all the different dynamics, not even in just Davina’s storyline, but just how the families are functioning and care for one another.” Let’s just hope enough of them care for Davina to successfully bring her back.
