I didn't like any option they suggested me. Money for my silence? No, if I'll choose not tell anything it won't be because of a bribe. Silence without money? I was really considering it cause there was a huge risk people would start calling me insane and lock me in a cell. Who today, in this modern world would believe that there are existing creatures that doesn't age? But if I'll decide to expose them anyway, what will be the consequences? How this world is going to change? And what will they do to me? I knew that a few of them wanted me dead, so saying "I will not cooperate with you" will probably mean "Shoot me now". Of course I trusted doctor (have no idea why) so I could simply lie and when they let me go, change my opinion. But somehow it also didn't seem right. And the last option that escaped from Jasper lips and caused huge dissatisfaction among them was an offer to become one of them. All these three months of investigating, deeply in my soul I waited for this offer. Not because I wanted it, but because I wished to know if such possibility existed at all.
I spent an ora sitting on stairs unable to answer. They were very patient and didn't disturbed o rushed me - and I appreciated it very much. Finally, I stood up and they all appeared in a room like in a second.
"So, have te decided?" Carlisle looked very serious.
"Yes. I will not tell anyone about you" - there was few sighs of relief but Jasper and Rosalie didn't look very happy. They didn't believe me. And I must say I would do the same. I wasn't sure what to do yet. I decided not to expose them for now, until I make up my mind for sure, maybe after I gather some più information - so I was risking and bluffing a bit.
"Thank you" Esme smiled to me sincerely and hugged me. I felt a wave of guilt flooding me - I didn't want this nice woman to suffer just because she was different, maybe I should stay quiet...
"I don't believe in you" Jasper's voice was strict. "Eventually you'll tell someone and then there'll be più like te digging everything they can about us"
"Well maybe te should make less mistakes then" I was surprised how harsh my voice was. I really hated him.
"What are te suggesting?" Edward seemed interested and I sighed. Great, now I'm lecturing them how to keep low profile.
"You have so much money that te can live very easily without leaving any traces. But somehow te manage to leave something. te know how I got to know so much about you? Cause te have always recitazione da the same scenario: same names, same states, same age. te should consider going abroad for some time, try some new names and proffessions. Also te should diviso, spalato - if te want to live together pretend to be neighbours o distant relatives o anything else. C'mon, family of eight people? Sorry, nine? You're drawing too much attention" I stopped to take a breath. They were shocked.
"Why are te telling us all of this?" Alice asked but before I could say anything Esme hugged me again.
"Cause she not only don't want to expose us, she also doesn't want anyone else to find out. Oh thank you" and the third hug. It's good that I never blush o I'll be red as tomato.
"What's more, transfer your money to accounts whose owners aren't registered da their names. Try some countries where money can guarantee te anonymity. And for God sake, stop playing with stock" I threw a critic glance to Alice.
"How did te know?" she jumped.
"Know what?"
"That it's me who messes with stock"
"I wasn't sure, but te have just confirmed my thoughts" I smiled "I followed your family financial history and decided that it can't be a coincidence that it changed so drasticly when te appeared" she relaxed a bit
"And what's your theory? How did I change it?"
"There was some thoughts... Some connections with companies?" she shook her head."With events in market?" another shake. "Well that leaves te being psychic" I joked and to my horror I saw her smile dissapearing. Psychic? I guess my plans to expose them later is falling apart.
"Alice" now Jasper was furious "You see that she knows too much? We..." I didn't care that I was interrupting him.
"You're psychic?!" she nodded "Then why haven't te see me working on your case for three months?" she looked surprised.
"Three months? For so long?" she looked like she didn't believe me and I nodded. Everyone looked confused too.
"Why?" I asked but she wavered to answer.
"I don't know..." her voice was so quiet I was hardly able to hear it "Maybe your shield is stronger than Bella's and that's why not only Edward can't read your mind o Jasper can't conrol your emotions, but I also can't see your future..." she looked so sad but suddenly I realized her words.
"Shield?!" I screamed and turned to Edward "Read minds?! Control emotions?!" in what freakin world am I living?
"Please, calm down" Carlisle tried to control the situation "You already know that our existence is different than normal people. But some of us has very unusal abilities. Bella had her ability before turining into..." he stopped "What am I trying to say is that te also have an ability called shield. Edward o Jasper can't affect you". Thank God! I would go mad if I know that someone is Leggere my thoughts. Are te Edward? But his face didn't mostra any sign of receiving this thought.
"I can put lovely pictures in your mind" I heard Nessie's voice for a first time and I froze - don't know what scared me più - what she detto o her soprano which was completely incompatible with her age. And for worse she grabbed my hand. It was a strange feeling - her hot hand, but also I could feel something else... Something like before having migraine attack.
"She is trying to mostra te something but te are shielding, aren't you?" Edward explained.
"Shielding?" my voice was weak.
"Yes, te don't see anything"
"No"
"Hmm... That's interesting"
Interesting? I don't think it was a suitable word, I would call it freaky, scary, weird, strange... This is definitely too much for me. And I fainted.
