Wade Barrett was interviewed in the Baltimore Sun & Mentioned Jericho:

Speaking of learning from guys, Chris Jericho was your on-screen pro on NXT. Was there any real mentoring going on with Jericho and te behind the scenes?

Yeah, definitely. I’d say to this giorno he’s probably my first point of contact if I’ve got any domande o stuff that I want to know about in the company o if I want critiques on anything that I’m doing. I’ve got a few people I would go to, including William Regal and Goldust as well – he’s been very helpful. But I’d say Chris Jericho is my No. 1 sort of influence and mentor to this day.

What’s the best piece of consigli you’ve been dato in the business and who gave it to you?

The very best piece of consigli I’ve been dato I probably can’t tell te because it’s not PG-rated [laughs]. But I suppose Chris Jericho has definitely dato me a good piece of consigli in that when I started in NXT he told me that I couldn’t just be strong in one area of what I do. I couldn’t just be good on the mic. I needed to be good on the mic; I needed to be good in the ring; I need to be good in my presentation; my ring attire need to look good, my appearance. Everything about me needed to be the best. I couldn’t be weak in any area because you’re only as good as your weakest aspect. So that’s something that I’ve been very conscious of and I know where my weak points are and what I’ve got to work on – and I also know what my strengths are. So that’s probably the best piece of consigli that I’ve been given.

He also briefly mentioned Jericho in an interview with the Ottawa Sun:

Barrett says his WWE experience has been an awesome ride, learning from the best.

“If te want to be as good as te can be, te have to work with the best,” he said. “When te work with guys like John Cena, Randy Orton and The Undertaker, te learn. And when I was on NXT, I was fortunate to have Chris Jericho as my mentor.

Wade Barrett has looked as strong as any heel in the WWE over the last few months, but nothing will get him over with the crowd like a win at the 2012 Royal Rumble.

With Barrett’s English background, it will be easy for the WWE to play him up as royalty after a win in the Royal Rumble, almost exactly how they did to Booker T after winning the King of the Ring.

I was never a huge Barrett fan, but he has always been a solid in-ring worker. The only thing that bothered me was his lack of...
