Yes, he might have come across as strict and overprotective, but his precious little girl had cancer, and he didn't want her to feel hurt and sadness in her last few days. Like any parent, he just wanted to protect her from all the horrible and rotten things in the world. And, you have to admit, Landon did not have the best track-record before he meet Jamie; Mr. Sullivan had reason to doubt! But he was really great when he relized that the love that Jamie and Landon felt for each other was not ordinary, and i think it was really sweet of him to agree to marry Jamie and Landon, especially since they were not even in their 20s. But he knew that Jamie didn't have much time left, and he wanted to do all that he could to make sure that her last days on earth were happy ones.
