Katsura Hoshino\'s "D.Gray-man" Gets New TV Anime Adaptation in 2016
Ayumu Murase is newly cast as the protagonist Allen Walker
It is announced at the Jumpe Festa 2016 event today that a new TV anime adaptation of Katsura Hoshino\'s dark fantasy action manga series
is in the works for a 2016 premiere. Its official website and Twitter open today with its main visual and an 80-second 1st PV (currently region-locked). The tagline on the main visual is written as "I want to live, even if I have to destroy you."
It is confirmed that 27-year-old anime voice actor Ayumu Murase, best known as Shoyo Hinata in
, is newly cast as the protagonist Allen Walker, in place of Sanae Kobayashi who played the character in the 1st TV anime series. And Shinnosuke Tachibana, Tomoe in
, voices Howard Link previously voiced by Daisuke Kishio.
The manga first serialized in Shiueisha\'s Weekly Shonen Jump from 2004 to 2009, then after two and half-year hiatus, it has been running in Jump SQ.CROWN since July of this year. So far 24
tankobon volumes have been published in Japan and its total print run has reached 20 million
copies. TMS Entertainment produced its 1st TV anime adaptation, and it was aired for 103 episodes
from October 2006 to September 2008. Since TMS Entertainment is still listed on the bottom of
the new season\'s official website, they are expected to work on it as well.
