Episode 52
Welcome To The Southern Pacific
August 15, 1956
If te have read some of the earlier episodes, te will notice that Pete, (the boss of the section of the Union Pacific that he works on), is good Friends with Michael, who works on a nearby section of the Southern Pacific.
Because of this, the two railroads often exchange workers, engines, o other equipment.
One giorno in the yards, a freight train came from the Southern Pacific. The engineer was named Nikki West, and has been working on the S.P for three months.
Hawkeye: What did te bring us?
Nikki: A train called The insalata Bowl Express. Y'all have to get it into Kansas City, then The Chicagoat & North Western will take over from there.
Stylo: What are te going to do while we get this train into Kansas City?
Nikki: Some of the freight cars in this yard have some supplies we need to extend part of our route. We're expecting più trains, but me, and my sister will have a rough time.
Hawkeye: Do te have any other engineers on the section that te work in?
Nikki: No, me, and my sister Meadow are the only ones.
Stylo: Well, thanks for this train, we'll take it from here.
Hawkeye: *Uncouples Nikki's engine from the train* You're all good.
Nikki: *Drives forward*
Stylo: Remember, there's a piatto, piattaforma girevole nearby. te may use it to turn your engine around for the return trip.
Nikki: Thanks Stylo. *Drives to turntable*
Hawkeye: She seems like a nice pony.
Stylo: Why not? She works on the Southern Pacific.
Hawkeye: So?
Stylo: I used to work on that railroad, remember?
Hawkeye: Oh yeah.
Then, Gordon arrived bringing three diesels for Hawkeye, and Stylo to use for their train.
Gordon: Why are te two taking this train?! It should be my job!
Hawkeye: Cool it Gordon. Pete says he has a "special assignment" for you.
Gordon: What?
Stylo: He wants te to learn how to be normal.
Gordon: Oh hardy har har. te two should be thanking me! If it weren't for me, te wouldn't have these engines, now would you?
Hawkeye: We could've gotten them ourselves.
Stylo: Now get out, and let us do the real work.
Gordon: *Gets out of engine*
Hawkeye & Stylo: *Climbs into engine*
Snowflake: *Turns signal green*
Hawkeye: *Blows horn twice, then drives train*
Stylo: *Ringing campana, bell on engine*
Gordon: *Watching train leave* Wait, why am I letting them drive that train? I should be driving it! *Tries to jump onto train, but fails, and falls on ground*
Nikki got to the turntable, and was turning her engine around.
Coffee Creme: *Looking at engine, then notices Nikki* Nikki!! *Hugs Nikki*
Nikki: *Hugging back* Good to see te again after all these years.
Coffee Creme: When did te start working for this railway?
Nikki: I don't work here, I work for the Southern Pacific.
Coffee Creme: Oh.
Nikki: But don't worry, I'll be bringing in a lot of trains for y'all. How's Honey Bee? I haven't seen her since she moved out of our neighborhood.
Coffee Creme: She's dead.
Nikki: What?
Coffee Creme: Somepony crashed into her train three years ago.
Nikki: Aw, that's a shame. But, what can te expect from railroading? *Gets back in engine* Make te sure te don't crash now, te hear?
Coffee Creme: Just get your engine off that piatto, piattaforma girevole so I can turn my engines around.
Nikki: I'm on it. *Drives off turntable*
Coffee Creme: *Sighs* Great to see her again. If only she worked on the Union Pacific.
When Nikki got to the yards, she saw another pony in a small diesel pushing some freight cars onto a train.
Nikki: *Stops engine*
Percy: Ma'am? Your train is ready.
Nikki: *Sees train* I see. *Drives forward, then goes backward onto the track where the freight train is*
Snowflake: *Turns signal yellow*
Nikki: *Waiting for green signal*
Snowflake: *Turns signal green*
Nikki: *Blows whistle twice, then drives train out of the yards*
Nikki was going to a town in Utah called Ogden. When she arrived at the trainyard, she saw her sister Meadow, pushing freight cars down the hump in the yard.
Nikki: *Stops train da yard tower* I wonder if Meadow can hear me.
Meadow: *Pushing two cars*
Worker: *Uncouples freight cars from train*
The freight cars then rolled down the hump, and into the yards.
Meadow: Well, my work here is done. *Drives backwards*
Nikki: *Clearing throat* ciao Meadow!
Meadow: *Stops engine, and sees Nikki's freight train* Aw come on! I just finished with pushing sixty freight cars down that hill!
Nikki: And now te have sixty more! *Jumps out of engine, and runs toward coupling*
Meadow: Nikki, don't te dare!
Nikki: *Uncouples engine from freight train then runs back to engine*
Meadow: I'm gonna tell our parents on you!
Nikki: Our parents moved out of the house last week, remember? *Gets back in engine, and drives pass a switch track*
Meadow: *Sighs, then drives engine behind freight train*
Nikki: *Drives engine onto a track successivo to train*
Meadow: *Pushes train down hump*
As Meadow was doing her work, three stallions with fedoras, and trench coats arrived.
Stallion 1: Stop the train!
Meadow: *Stops*
Nikki: *Notices train stopping, and gets out of her engine, to walk to Meadow*
Stallion 1: Are te Meadow West?
Meadow: Yes?
Stallion 2: Come with us please.
Nikki: Wait, what's going on here?
Stallion 3: Your sister is coming with us to the station. We need to talk with her, and your boss.
Stallion 1: Finish her work in here, then meet us in the station.
Nikki: Okay. (I wonder what's going on.)
When Nikki finished Meadow's work in the yards, she went to the station to see what was going on.
Michael: Is that so?
Stallion 2: Yes. We're having a shortage of engineers in El Paso, and we need Meadow to come work with us until we get più engineers.
Michael: But Meadow is one of the only two engineers that I have.
Stallion 1: Who's the other one?
Nikki: *Arrives* I finished working in the yards.
Stallion 3: Excellent Miss West, please sit down with us.
Nikki: *Sits down*
Stallion 1: Your sister is being transferred to work in another town for the time being.
Nikki: What?
Stallion 3: She will be working in El Paso for no più than two years.
Meadow: Two years? I'll probably get kidnapped before those two years are over.
Stallion 2: No, te won't.
Stallion 1: *Checks clock on wall* We better get going.
Stallion 3: Yes. Our boss expects us to return to El Paso within five hours.
Meadow: May I speak to my sister before we go?
Stallion 1: Certainly. We will wait outside on the station, and when the train comes, we'll call you.
All three stallions went outside to the station platform.
Meadow: I'm sorry Nikki.
Nikki: There's nothing to be sorry about.
Meadow: No, it's just, all the times I've been mean to you. I never thought you'd be a good engineer, but then again, I never thought some ponies would come take me to some other town for me to work.
Nikki: It's okay Meadow. Do your best.
Meadow: Okay. Take care of Bullet for me, will you?
Nikki: Of course. I know that dog means a lot to you.
Meadow: And take care of my Lightningbird too. I want te to drive it around at least once a week.
Nikki: What about you? What are te going to do without a car?
Meadow: I'll buy a new one. Maybe it'll look exactly the same as the one we have.
Nikki: Yeah, as long as te don't drag race, and ruin the tires.
Stallion 2: *Pokes head through door* Meadow, it's time to go.
Meadow: Well, this is it.
Nikki: Goodbye Meadow.
Meadow: *Walks out of station*
Nikki was very sad to see her sister go. She didn't know if she would be able to see her again.
successivo morning, Nikki started work. There were no trains yet, so she had to work in the yard. Before she was able to do this though, Michael was talking to her.
Michael: There's più than enough work for only you. Our CEO says that two stallions from Manehattan will come to help you.
Nikki: Thanks.
A few hours later, the two stallions arrived. Their names were Roger, and Anthony.
Roger: *Looking at station* What an ugly station. This won't do at all. We're much too good to work on a railway with ugly stations.
Anthony: I think it's nice.
Roger: Hmph. te say that about everything. *Looks at Nikki* Who's that bitch?
Anthony: Roger! That's Nikki. We're working with her. *Walks over to Nikki* I'm sorry about Roger. He's not happy with the long trip we had to take, but he's quite nice really.
Nikki: I feel sorry for you, having to put up with his rude behavior.
Michael: Roger, a passenger train is coming to this station. I need te to take it into Chicagoat.
Roger: I'm tired! Let Anthony do it. He'd Amore it.
Michael: I said, te are to take it! I'm not going to tell te again. *Walks back into station*
So, when the passenger train arrived, Roger took a look at the coaches while getting into the engine.
Roger: Whatever next? Those coaches have an ugly paint job.
Passengers: *Hearing what Roger said* Somepony woke up on the wrong side of the letto today.
Roger: It's not what I'm used to.
Conductor: All aboard.
Roger: *Driving train out of station*
Roger then arrived at Cheyenne, where he had to stop at a red signal. Nearby was Jeff, fixing part of a track.
Roger: *Leaning head out of window* Hi!
Jeff: *Looking at Roger*
Roger: Who are you?
Jeff: I'm Jeff. Who are you?
Roger: I'm Roger. I'm a hard worker, just like you. Only trouble is that I'm forced to drive a train with coaches that have bad paint jobs? Do your cars have good paint jobs?
Jeff: Well, um..
Metal Gloss: *Passing Jeff in a passenger train*
Roger: *Admiring coaches on Metal Gloss' train* Yes, those are really nice coaches. Well, I better get going. We must talk again someday. *Drives away*
Jeff: What was that all about?
Several hours later, Roger arrived at Chicagoat.
Roger: *Watching passengers get off train* Finally, it's over.
Worker: New assignment for you. Get to the nearest train yard, and pick up a freight train for Kansas City.
Roger: Freight train? A freight train? I won't do it. So there.
Worker: Don't be stupid. *Goes to coupling, and uncouples engines from train*
Roger: *Drives forward, and crashes into wall* Told you.
Another pony was driving an engine with cranes. Roger had to wait at the station for the mess to be cleared up.
Roger: *Watching ponies clean up mess*
Worker: Your boss was on the phone. He detto he wants te on an airplane for Ogden, right now.
Roger: *Grumbling, as he walks out of the station, to get on a taxi for the airport.
In three hours, Roger arrived at Ogden, and at the airport was Michael.
Roger: *Gets off plane*
Michael: te miserable twit. I hope I can trust te to keep working on my line.
Roger: Yeah, whatever.
Michael: No, not whatever! te are disrespectful, arrogant, and very hot headed. If this behavior continues, there will be severe punishments.
