It confounds me honeslty...why people are so against the idea of these two together...they obviously care for one another despite the fact they have had less communication than with Rukia but still many are behind the paring. I mean they are the same age, compatible, and look good together. Rukia to me is so much like an older sister to Ichigo....but not many I find share my feelings on the matter..of course this does lead to wonderful debates!!!!!

I can see how IchiRuki can be interpreted as more of a brother/sister thing, and I don't HATE IchiHime. And I certainly don't hate Orihime herself. (We'd probably be BFFs in real life, lol. Our personalities are very similar.) I simply don't think she and Ichigo suit each other well. Not for the long term, anyway. IchiHime strikes me as being a brief bf/gf school crush sort of relationship, whereas IchiRuki feels stronger and more...destiny-ish? xD It's such a deep, complex relationship with so many different facets to it, which makes it fun and interesting to explore as a pairing.

Now, if Orihime had more character depth or had grown more as a person over the course of the story, maybe I'd deem her a worthy match for Ichigo. But it doesn't feel to me like she's matured or changed much at all (besides her hair-do, lol). She still strikes me as being a burden to him, rather than a strength...which is one of the reasons why I prefer IchiRuki.

See, I don't like any of these answers, because the simple and yet complex "real" answer is that everyone has their impressions of each of the characters, and therefore makes their determinations about who someone should and should not be with. I think it's proven all the more by your answer, Dancing_Petal. You see these two as being better together for a variety of reasons, and dislike the idea of an Ichigo/Rukia relationship for a variety of reasons as well. I could give you half a dozen reasons why Rukia's the more logical choice, but they would mean nothing, mainly because there's no logic in love.

People certainly have a variety of opinions on the matter, and everyone's entitled to them, but that's the result of our own emotional and, inherently, illogical outlook. We all love to believe we know what's best for the characters we have some affection for in Bleach and other various shows, but just like in real life, we have nothing except an outsider's perspective. Yet this knowledge seems to dissuade no one from believing they have the best in mind.

But let's get to the specifics of the question. Why don't people like Ichihime? Simple reasons: they hate Orihime, they hate the idea that the main character should end up with her, and they hate the concept of Ichigo not getting the person they feel is best for him. Simple reasons, complex reasoning behind them. I'm no fan of any measure of romantic assessment of the series, mainly because it's nothing more than a plot point for a series focused around high intensity fights, but there are a lot of people who get invested. They're not going to toss away they're conceptions just because someone tries to explain it to them.

I should have added that choice..but Whiteflame you may argue that Rukia and Ichigo share love..but you have no way of knowing that...neither have ever once confirmed feelings of love for one another...and there is logic in love depending on who you may ask....I see Ichigo and Orihime as a good couple and a more sensible one for many reasons...all of them more logical than if he were to end up with Rukia...I think Rukia and Renji's feelings for one another are more like man and woman and not sister and brother like that of her bond with Ichigo! Renji and Rukia at least in my opinion have a more platonic relationship. And not to be rude dearheart but I think that Ichigo isn't always a worthy match for Orihime. Ichigo and Orihime would make quite cute together if they could communicate more clearly...to be frank they both have growing up to do..and as Whiteflame pointed out and as all of us already know Bleach is a story about friend ship and battle

In all honesty, we have no surefire way of knowing whether Ichigo shares Orihime's feelings. We know Orihime loves him, we don't know whether he returns that sentiment. With either relationship, there's a genuine lack of certainty, and all the logical reasoning in the world wont determine who someone ends up with. Overall, it just feels like posturing to take a side on this one. We all have our opinions of who is best for Ichigo, but those opinions will mean little at the end of the day.

I agree Whiteflame.....I just dislike what the majority of people conisder romance to be. I realize that bland accounts of two people meeting and falling in love is very irritaing but so are two people constantly bickering and acting like children, which is how I percieve Ichigo and Rukia's relationship. I know that Ichigo's romatic feelings for Orihime and Rukia are both unknown and undeveloped (like many common themes in Bleach). Kubo didn't make Ichigo a romantic, he's passionate yes, but in a more heroic sense. If we were going for who is the best match for Ichigo it wouldn't be either of our two femme fatales honeslty. I'd say he seems more interested in Chad than anyone else, but Tite is the writer and is the only one who knows the outcome. So you're right that it doesn't matter what we think but a good debate about corresponding views is always fun.

I think more people dislike it because they dislike Orihime, than because they like IchiRuki. (Though, the two often go hand in hand. >___>)

i surport ichihime so much!! Ichigo seems to treat orihime better than rukia. Rukia doesnt like or love ichigo. I think rukia should be with renji. There isnt any prove of love between ichigo or anybody at this moment.

i suport ichihime more and i think the reason some people dont like ichihime cuzz they think ichiruki is better or more likely to happen. The reason ichiruki fans hate orihime is because they see her as someone who is in the way of a couple that is not cannon. Orihime loves me aka ichigo kurosaki!

Three of the previously listed options are right.

1. many don't find the two suitable: That's absolutely true! They aren't compatible... I really don't know what made you think they were 'meant' to each other. Inoue is undetermined, Ichigo is brave. Inoue is a crying-baby, Ichigo is pure courage! She would never suit him! She doesn't deserve him.
Oh! Also! Remember that she is the one who developed feelings for him. For Ichigo, Inoue is just a comrade.

2. Too many people are caught up on Ichiruki: this one is pure truth! If you get to experience Ichigo & Rukia's chemistry!!! ♥_♥ Oh my! GOD! That is something you'll never want to leave!

3. many dislike Orihime so much: TRUE!!!! And this is particulary my reason for disliking the IchiHime thing! She is so undeveloped and poor character! So annoying, useless and undetermined!!! As I said before, she doesn't deserve to be with the main character.

Well, I also think that half the Bleach fans just plan don't care for coupling. But, mostly because people don't think Orihime is suitable for Ichigo... That is true, whether you dislike her and/or advocate IchiRuki... Neither of those fpoints change the fact that people find her unsuitable for other reasons, or because of those two.
