Brennan leant over the table, a femur in her hands. She examined the bone, but for once in her life, this man's death wasn't the only thing whirring quietly in her mind. The thought of Seeley Booth was niggling at her sub-conscience, his smile, his gentle touch, his personality. She knew the dead body infront of her demanded full attention, but she couldn't give it. Not after Booth's gift, the beautiful pen and baciare she had waited so long for.
Seeley Booth stood below the platform, watchcing Brennan. She stared into space, he didn't seem to be concentrating on the bone she was holding. He walked up the steps, swiped his card and walked towards her. Resting a hand on her shoulder, she jumped slightly.
"Booth! te scared me!"
"Hey, Bones. Hungry?"
"Ummm..." she placed the femur she was holding back on the table. "Sure, let me grab my coat."
A little over an ora later, they were sharing a bowl of noodle la minestra, zuppa and a plate of speacial spring rolls. With mouths full of food, they were sharing an animated converstaion.
"...So Parker was finally allowed to stay over with me for his entire holidays!" Booth was smiling.
"Have te ever seen my apartment?" he hinted at Brennan.
"Um, just for a minute...You were with Tess..." Her words hung in the air for a moment, there was tension at Tessa's name.
"How about...You come back to my place for a coffee?" Booth had detto what Brennan had been waiting for a long time. She smiled at him, "I guess I could squeeze one in...But I'm very busy, I have to finish a final draft of my successivo book."
"I tell te what, Bones. te come back to my place, and I swear I'll have te back home da midnight."
"Deal, but if I'm late..." she threateningly joked to Booth.
Sitting on Booth's couch, Brennan clasped an caffè espresso shot in her hands. Taking a swig of it, Booth walked over and sat beside her. "Temperence," he began, taking the cup from her hands. "I want te to know you're più than a partner to me. You're my best friend, and..." he couldn't go on, but he didn't need to. Brennan knew what he wanted to say. "I'm on my knees for you, Temperence. I Amore you." Holding his hands, she smiled and leaned in to baciare him. Gently and kindly, their lips met. They savoured the moment, she thought of his hard, FBI exterior and and of the soft gentle man inside. After what seemed like an eternity of bliss, they broke.
"I'm on my knees for te Bones." he whispered.
