Damon and Elena's relationship has been getting a build up for the past two and a half season. They met, became friends, grew apart, came close again, and now 'feel passion for each other, which they can no longer deny'. And this, i feel, gives us so many advantages over any relationship in The Vampire Diaries realm. I have seen people say that Damon and Elena's relationship is not going to work. That Elena is gonna be all about Stefan. I dont see why and how. Elena has been with Stefan for two seasons, and she 'fell in love' with him although she barely knew him then. For last two seasons, she's making sure they are together, always. And in season 3, she's still striving to bring Stefan back, back to her. All this when their relationship was built on a lie (Elena didn't know Stefan was a vampire).
What i want to say is, that if and when Elena falls in love, and be in a relationship with Damon, it's going to be sturdy. Why? Because Elena will fall in Amore with Damon knowing he's a vampire. Because she'll Amore Damon despite knowing that he was in Amore with a girl who looks just like her; not just that, but also knowing that he had spent 145 years loving that girl, looking for her. Because she's going to Amore him knowing his past, knowing all his faults and what he is capable of. Because she'll Amore him knowing both his good and bad side. Elena will Amore Damon 'knowing' him. She has seen him at his worst, as well as at his best. Thats not it. Damon makes sure that she KNOWS him. He doesn't hold anything about himself back. Damon wants Elena to know all of him.
So, tell me now how can a relationship which is so real, which is nothing but truth, cannot work! They know each other so well, even for their own comfort. The bond they share right now is so deep. If Elena can Amore Stefan the way she does, i dont see why she can't be in a successful relationship with Damon. If anything, it's gonna be much stronger and powerful. They both Amore unconditionally, and when they will Amore each other - It's gonna be epic. It might not be all rose and sunshine, but which real relationship is!
Damon and Elena belong together. After such epic build up, their relationship has to be exploding. And those who say that Elena won't Amore Damon the way she loves Stefan, o it will just be a fling, I say think again. Because when she will Amore Damon (which is inevitable) it's gonna be REAL, and we all know 'When it's real, te can't walk away'. <3
