Deadpool fever is understandably high right now thanks to last nights trailers. Both the redband and family friendly previews featured most of the unusual cast populating the Merc With the Mouths solo movie, from his abused sidekick Weasel to X-Men mainstay Colossus. Seriously, who would have ever thought wed see Colossus in a foul-mouthed, rated R romp? Still, there are a few notable characters from Deadpools supporting cast who didnt make the cut for the first film, but director Tim Miller already has a character he wants to include in the potential Deadpool 2: frequent frenemy Cable.
Miller sat down with Empire to break down the redband Deadpool trailer, and while talking about Negasonic Teenage Warheads role in the film, he casually mentioned that it would it would probably be a good idea to put Cable in the sequel. As Miller put it:
We thought about Cannonball, but he wouldve been a stupid hick character, whereas the guys wrote Negasonic as this deadpan goth teen, which was a great angle. She turned out really well. There arent really many definitive Deadpool villains, apart from Cable. If we dont put Cable in Deadpool 2 I think well be run out of town on a rail. Miller calls Cable a villain for Deadpool, but perhaps the more appropriate term would be "adversary." In case youre not familiar with Cable, he is the son of Cyclops and Jean Grey clone Madelyn Pryor. Although born in the present, he was sent forward in time, but traveled back to the present day as an adult to prevent his apocalyptic future he was raised in from ever occurring. He and Deadpool first crossed paths in New Mutants #98 when Deadpool was hired to kill him. As expected, the hit did not go as planned. Although these two had a few more feuds, they were later paired together as unwilling partners in their own team-up book, which lasted 50 issues. Those two are akin to a buddy cop duo except one is dedicated to protecting mankind and the other just wants to eat chimichangas and blow stuff up. Cue wacky shenanigans.
Although the X-Men film franchise is more than 15 years old, Cable is one of the few major mutants that hasnt been introduced yet, and with the future of the main films uncertain (other spinoffs like
Gambit and New Mutants are on the way), its questionable whether hell ever get to interact with the mutant superhero team. So if Fox eventually decides to use Cable, Deadpool 2 would be the best place for him to make his cinematic debut. Obviously hell be a good guy in terms of morality, but since Deadpool is the protagonist, that paints Cable as the antagonist. That said, maybe theyll follow the comic book path and becomes allies in the latter half of the film, even though that wouldnt make Cables life any easier.

I know. Sadly, this movie, Batman vs Superman, Suicide Squad, and Civil War are the only upcoming movies I want to see. That X-Men Movie didn't seem all that good to me.

Honestly I'm interested in all of them. I feel that X-Men will be good, because it wasn't from some crappy director; Brett Ratner or Matthew Vaughn. It's Bryan Singer, and he hasn't seem to disappoint me with his previous X-Men films.
