Yeah. And besides, the ambulances, firetrucks, etc. will get there faster anyways.

I don't drive. If I ever need to get anywhere, I take the bus. But everything I really need is within walking distance. I think it's a good idea.

I don't think it's practical. I do however strongly support electric cars and hybrids, as well as mass-transportation. If we're going to borrow anything from Mexico, it should be siesta ;).

yes! that would be amazing. obviously you'd have to beef up public transportation to make up for it, but it could work and the trees would sing us love songs :)

if you averaged out how much petrol and whatever else buses and trains use up and then how often they would have to run with the amount of people needing to use it...it's impossible. I catch the train in the morning and it has 3-4 carriages and they are packed...this is only a small amount of Adelaide catching it, think of how often trains would have to run to carry all people on time...would be a horrible and just bank up everything.

It could possibly work. Some places it wouldn't be worth the while though. (ie when there's so few people living in a country area, mass transportation would actually harm more than help).

The question would then become: who is going to pay for all the new public transportation. Speaking for myself, I don't want to wait for a bus or a train. I want to go, do what I need to do, and be done with it. I am not good at waiting for public transportation to come and pick me up-or hurrying so I don't miss the bus.

If you want to be kind to the environment, buy a bycicle.

People shouldn't be forced to take a moral stand for a cause they don't believe in.
