Irritator

armadillozenith Hi! A great illustration - I am loving the more spiky/ spiny look - more baroque/ gothic ornamentation, giving a truly dragonish feel - in this and other illustrations. It fits with many present reptiles. In this scene I admire the handling of the layers of receding distant vegetation in tinted silhouette, similarly underwater for the near- to more-distant vegetation. I wonder though whether this individual is shown a bit too deep in the water? I think it might be more buoyant and so float somewhat higher. If it was just taking the plunge (or was surfacing from deeper) then of course maybe as shown - but water surface seems placid so here it seems to be just swimming level. I say this (about buoyancy) due to recent scientific conclusions about pneumaticity the idea that, like modern birds, many dinosaurs and pterosaurs had a system of air sacs in the body, a sophisticated high-metabolism breathing system.
