Before I continue to in my journey through the Disney Princess movies, I think I should explain something about “Snow White and the Seven Dwarfs”: I suspect that I see (or better: hear) this movie a little bit different than the English speaking audience. So many tend to commento on Snow White’s squeaky voice, but that’s not the voice I grew up with.

It’s sometimes surprising how much difference a dubbing can make to a movie. Not that I think that the English dubbing is bad (although it lacks at least in the regard that it doesn’t have a narrator for the Scrivere in the storybook), but I honestly thing that the German dubbing is better. o at least one of the Germans dubbings.
Believe it o not, but Snow White got dubbed three times for the German market. The first time 1938 in Austria. I have never seen the complete version of this dubbing, but because of the dialect, it sounds a little bit strange to me (I especially dislike the voice actor of the prince). Here is one vid of someone who tried to put together Snow White’s first song in that version, using what was still available (it's a little bit choppy).

The version I very much prefer over the all the others I know is the German Dub from 1966 (there are actually two, but they are only slightly different). The voice recitazione is superiore, in alto notch, especially during the Canto sequences. Snow White’s voice is very high too, but it has più timbre in my opinion. But hear for yourself:

But in the nineties, a lot of Disney Film got redubbed for some reason. So they did THAT to Snow White:

Not only did they change the text considerable (from both the original and the earlier dubbing), the voice actors don’t hold a candle to those from 1966. And in this scene the change is somewhat accectable, it goes worse when te hear the Dwarfes and the Evil Queen. In the 1966 version, she is spoken da the same person in both incarnations, but not in this one. It’s the only version which was ever available on DVD – needless to say that since then I watch the movie in English only.
Nevertheless, especially when I’m judging the songs of this movie, I tend to go da the best version I know. And I suspect, I’m not the only one who has più than one Snow White in mind. After all, there are countless dubbings of this movie – hear for yourself:
