Rapunzel at least had free time and the ability to do things she enjoyed (painting, guitar, pottery, ect, ect) Cinderella, every second was serving her step family. As Jaq said: Every time she finds a minute,
that's the time when they begin it! Plus Gothel wasn't nearly as cruel as Tremaine, at least she played the part of a mother well, even going out of her way to make Rapunzel's favourite dish Hazelnut Soup and taking a three day long journey to get Rapunzel a present. She was only cruel to Rapunzel when she had her back up against a wall, and no choice in her mind.

rapunyel thought mother gothel was her mother,at least and mother gothel behaved well becasue she needed rapunzel's hair, so aftraid of loosing her, she was a nice mother, I think.

I think Rapunzel has a quite happier childhood life though she cannot go out from her tower. She has a lot of things to do, like painting, playing darts, guitar.... And Mother Gothel also does not always tell her what to do. And at least, Rapunzel thinks Mother Gothel love her as her real mother.

I think it depends on what phase of childhood. I think Cinderella and Rapunzel are tied in early childhood with Cinderella actually beating out Punz a little bit. Rapunzel actually believed Gothel and was for the most part happy but she had absolutely no freedom. After her father dies Cinderella clearly has the worst childhood.

Rapunzel at least had a human being who was pleasent to her

rapunzel at least got to do things that she liked cinderella was forced to clean and do laundrey ALL the time from the moment she woke up till she went to bed she didn't have a moment to herself

I'm not sure, though... Rapunzel had someone who cared for her, but staying locked in a tiny tower was something Cindy didn't have to face.

@Animaluco - Ironically enough, Rapunzel might not have ever been locked in a tiny tower, but Cinderella definitely was at least once. Think about it ;)

I guess I don't have the popular opinion, but I think I'd rather have to do lots of chores than be locked up in a tower.
