That's one reason. But another reason is not because of boys not wanting to see it (I have a lot of guy friends who went to see that movie) but because Christians didn't like the black magic in it.
Also it was in 2D and people were ready to move on from that.

So you think religion had a big impact on PatF's success?

^I have a lot and I mean a lot of Christian friends that said that only people who worship the devil would see that film. Also there are a lot of Christian articles online about people's shouldn't let their children seen that film until they are at least 21 and it should have been rated PG-13.

It's not bad, just not that great.

I think my answer explains it. My family is christian but we don't mind the vodoo in the movie. It's portrayed in a bad way and we are not fanatic.

Same here...sadly there are some of those types left (ESPECIALLY where I live)

...I might be a lame-brained idiot, because I have no real complaints about the movie. It's beautiful, and it had the same amazing feel as the previous hand-drawn movies. Maybe even good enough to be in my top 10 Disney movie list, if I could figure one out, that is. I think people can be way too hard on it.
I'm not sure why it's unpopular, maybe a combination of all of these options?

I'm also confused....it's actually one of my favorites. My ONLY negative thing is that the plot drags a little bit in the middle but that is IT. Other than that, I love love love love it

Even though Avatar is not even that good. I still think this film is better than Frozen.

"Bad" isn't the word I'm looking for, overall the film is ok. I think the reason why it's not overly popular is probably due to the plot more than anything, it just seems to meander a lot. The main characters are fine, but the side characters are a bit annoying, and the music doesn't appeal to a lot of people.

It's a good movie. Honestly, I see few people not liking it. People around me and on here seem to find the movie average at least. I never hear underrated. Or maybe I do not pay attention? o-o
