When people are like "Oh, beast is so romantic, he saved Belle from the wolves" I'm always reminded that he didn't initially come out there to do that. I really think he would have tried to reason with Belle to bring her back, but when she refused, I think he would have lost his temper and forced her to come back. Those wolves were actually a blessing. It's uncomfortable and frankly a little frightening. I'm glad the scene with the wolves happened because I love the Beast, but the prospect of what would have happened if the wolves hadn't show up leaves a bad taste.

I think it's kind of both. He probably DID want to drag her back, and that's what he was going to do, but I also think he might've wanted to attempt to reason with her or convince her to come back FIRST, even if he was faking it, knowing that he had frightened her enough, and I think eventually he would've been overcome with frustration and just take her back in the end anyway.

Misogynistic guy that he is--- given that it was a female enchantress who cursed him in the first place--- he probably was going to do another abusive thing, i.e., drag Belle's behind back to the castle.

I think it's a bit of both, honestly. I think he would have tried to apologize and convince her to come back, in his own way. However, I do think he would have been very coarse and awkward about it, and try to hide his awkwardness under a front of anger and aggression, which probably would have ended in him dragging her back. Still, in his own way I think he would have at least tried to apologize first.

I think it's a good thing he fainted so she made the decision to help him and try to make things work, and thus finally call him out on his unneeded aggression, and thus break the cycle of "Beast acts like a dick, Belle gets angry and rejects him further, he gets even more angry and beastly, ad infinitum."

*sigh* I guess I'm a dunce, because I always thought the wolves WAS the reason he came out there. We can see he can run fast in his *ahem* beastly form, so maybe if he'd heard the noise outside, he ran out there to save her.

I agree with the last two. But I never even thought of that- I guess I had always just assumed what applesauce said.

Maybe he realized that Belle would be in danger? He lived there for a long time so I think he knew that there were wolfs in the forest.
