I would put all of the Classic princesses with their beaus in the 1-2 category since they barely interact. At least Ariel and Eric spend time together and Eric figures he should go for the cute, mute girl instead of the siren he thinks he may never see again (that is until Ursula got a hold of him). What hampers the development of their relationship is that since Ariel can't talk they don't get a chance to really know each other. The writers could have worked around this by having Ariel write notes and maybe use rudimentary sign language but instead, all we get is a coach ride through town and a musical number in which neither characters take part of.

I actually think that out of all the classic princesses, Ariel and Eric have the most devloped relationship. And while Digoenes has a point, I think the relationship is a little more developed when you look at it from Ariel's POV, if only slightly. I probably overrated them, but I've always been a sucker for this couple.

She likes him because he's hot, he likes her because she has "the most beautiful voice," and because "you look wonderful." The only reason they aren't at the very bottom is because, in shallowness and empty-headedness, they are perfectly matched.
