People make them out to be absolute torture that are among one of the worst things that ever existed. In my opinion, even the bad and awful movies are harmless. Even the ones that I hate and get me angry don't make my skin crawl like a lot of other movies I've seen that are TORTURE! Besides, people do tend to get upset over little things in the Disney sequels that are really no big deal. I mean, even the Nostalgia Critic, who has tore things to shreds easily, thinks something like for example Beauty and The Beast The Enchanted Christmas is an okay movie and that Return To Neverland is a pretty good movie (makes me interested in how he'd handle a Disneycember theme for the Disney Sequels). The Disney sequels aren't even among one of the worst products in Disney, let alone one of the worst things EVER! I've seen HORRID movies like The Last Airbender, Catwoman, North, The Room, The Swan Princess Christmas, the animated Titanic movies, Foodfight, Eight Crazy Nights, Grown Ups 2, Pixels, and Descendants (just to name a few). The Disney sequels have absolutely NOTHING on those movies. I think there are plenty of Disney sequels that are genuinely good and most of the bad ones are just regular bad movie bad and not that painful. They're all harmless and honestly, not that many are bad, for me barely enough for a top 10 worst Disney sequels list. There are even some I think are better than the original, as unpopular an opinion as that is.
A lot of them are enjoyable, and the worst Disney sequels aren't even that bad. Most of them aren't even among Disney's worst products. Have people seen Descendants? Or Austin & Ally ? Or Cars 2?
I guess, because I only watch a few of sequels. Peoples often disliked the sequels as they are not as good as the original movies (it actually was a general problem for mostly movies).
^Well the movies that you mentioned aren't much worst at all in my mind (Except Austin and Ally because I never saw it and in Disney Channel Asia the show getting to be started.)
problem is that Disney doesn't put as much effort in making its sequels as much it does in its original ones. People expect them to deliver to their best of qualities, and at par with original movies. Hence the hate. But i dont hate any movie myself, i rather enjyed many except few - TLM II, Belle's Magical World, Pocahontas II.
If you look at Aladdin orginal movie and see its sequels, they are extremenly disappointing in terms of plotline, music, animation.
No because they are not of good quality, and tend to ruin and derail the content in the original films. If there was a lot of effort to remain good quality within the characters and story, than there would be no issue. They are rushed products that are worked on for less than a year to make a quick buck.
^Actually, Cinderella III: A Twist in Time started production in 2004 and wasn't released until 2007. Sounds like a good amount of effort was put into it, to me. Especially considering its budget and the gorgeous quality of its animation.
^^ I can think of plenty of Disney sequels that have effort in them. With Lady and The Tramp 2: Scamp's Adventure they actually dug through old backgrounds used in the original to incorporate into the movie because they admire the effort the animators put into them. Also, for anyone who says reusing backgrounds from the original is lazy, it was VERY difficult to find them and they thought that they had either went missing forever or were ruined somehow, so it was a real b*tch to find. One of the directors actually asked her grandfather (who lived during the time period of the movie) what the garbage situation was because they didn't have recycling or ways of destroying garbage. They also showed the old dogcatcher car that was destroyed and was thought to have killed Trusty in the original in the junkyard. One of the directors said the movie was really personal for him because he had a younger brother who was a runaway as a kid and it was a really hard time for their family, even though he was a good kid. Plus how it has a message of family that isn't just about Scamp learning to appreciate his family, but also other issues. Angel is an orphan without a family and has had to survive on the streets in a gang and Tramp had to learn that he shouldn't have been so hard on Scamp and that he shouldn't have lied to him. Plus it expanded upon Tramp's backstory a little bit more with Buster. Along with the animation being absolutely GORGEOUS with fantastic songs!
Return To Neverland actually had great animation and did try to incorporate things from the original Peter Pan book/play that wasn't in the movie. Such as Tinkerbell almost dying and having to be brought back through Jane believing in fairies and Hook manipulating Jane (although in the original book/play it was Wendy). Jane is also a really well-done character that is OVERLY hated! It's understandable why she is the way she is because she was in World War II and had to grow up FAR TOO FAST! She wants to hold onto her childhood, but doesn't because she has to be strong and responsible for her family because people are dying and she and her family could die at any moment. She can't even walk down the street without worrying about being killed. But she's not just a stick in the mud, she has a fun side to her and is really witty and sarcastic, though isn't over-the-top about is like Megara. Plus Peter Pan is for once likable! The emotional moments are well-done, Jane's character development is fantastic, her relationship with Peter is great and is the most genuine thing to actual love that I've seen from Pan, the animation is gorgeous, Hook is a better villain here, it balances out the fun and serious moments, and is a really well-made sequel.
I'd name other sequels, but I don't want this comment to be too much of a dictionary.
Nah they're just poor trashy movies just made to get quick bucks out of parents and is mostly made for kids at mind. I'm surprised ya'll act like these serious movie critics Roger Ebert wannabes around here and claim classic films to be bad but you treat these as if they're the Holy Grail of films
