Actually there's no higher compliment that can be given to him because it's an honor to be like Melody. Both are adventurous, insecure, socialy awkward, brave, clever, and heroic.

Eric's not socially awkward. And Melody isn't clever.

According to Disney he is but personally I don't see how he seems fine to me, maybe a little insecure but he should look in the mirror than he'll feel better.

I see nothing wrong with Melody personally. And in my opinion she does combine the traits of both Eric and Ariel while having individual struggles and qualities of character that she developed on her own. Also, what's wrong with being socially awkward? I am and yes, it does get in a way of my communication skills in real life, however, I don't see it as a bad trait. Just like Eric, Melody doesn't take adventage of her royal privileges (nor does she use her status in order to make the kids that made fun of her love her or at least stop bullying/mocking her) and just like Ariel she is longing for adventures but most importantly - truth and knowledge, being determined to figure out a different world/reality instead of blindly accepting what she is told about it and is expected to repeat.
