Emily Bett Rickards Talks The Latest Season Of CW’s Arrow With Real Style
Canadian born actress Emily Bett Rickards plays Felicity Smoak on CW network’s
alongside Oscar nominees Saoirse Ronan and Julie Walters.
Real Style had the chance to speak with her on what to expect in this season of Arrow.
Emily: The show has helped me grow. Having the opportunity to learn, develop, and age with a character is a privilege and an exciting ride.
E: Felicity. I do adore her. She’s wise for her age and passionately driven. I aspire to be more like her in certain aspects of my life. Both of us can loose a train of thought in an abundance of information talking in circles but getting back to the point – there is a method to our madness.
RS: Felicity gets an origin story in this season, what was your reaction to finding that out?
E: I was intrigued and elated. I am always curious to find out what her major life altering points or events are and in this particular story we learn the one that made her choose the path that we meet her in season one.
E: Groovy. She is still Felicity, but Felicity younger and not fully evolved. Although she wasn’t fully herself yet per-say she still embodied that declaration of invincibility. Call it naivety or innocence, I think it was just her last bit of youth.
RS: How was it going goth with jet black hair and heavy makeup for those scenes?
E: Hot. The wig was hot and heavy and my sink drowned in black makeup after shooting each day but the transformation was beyond worth it. I was not easily recognizable even to my own cast and crew. There were a lot of blank looks, gasps, and halted introductions.
RS: How would you describe Felicity and Oliver’s relationship this season?
RS: You play Patti in the upcoming film Brooklyn. Can you tell us about the film and the character you play?
E: It’s a coming of age love story about a girl who leaves home for a new world. Her journey as a young Irishwoman discovering America in the 1950’s. My character is one that Saorise’s character meets upon her arrival in America. She is quick, with the times and looking for trouble.
