How can te be called emo?

Do te have to cut yourself? act goth? wear your clothes a certain way? I'm confused.

i think this is totally common in emo, i know like 2 emo's that do not cut themselves so my opinion is this is the best answer

Don't mean to be rude, but yes it helps the "image" but emo isn't an image. It's what people feel; It's a way of life. The image just developed.
