Hey, fellow fanpoppers! (And every time I say that I hear debs in my head--irrelevant.)

I was just thinking today, browsing the link as I always do, if there was any possible way we, as an international village, so to speak, could think of one way to help others.

And then, I had it!

Now, first of all, just so te all know, this idea of mine will NOT involve money! te won't have to pay a cent! Which means financially dependent users can partake in this activity as well. But it IS a way that we can really get motivated about making a difference in our own local communities. And think about how many fanpoppers there are! Even if we only count the ones in this spot, that's (as of today) 1003 fans! Now, (this won't happen, but) if every one of those fan got inspired and went out and did some small charity in their own backyard, think of the impact we can have!

So What do I have to do? te may be asking. It's simple: Anything te want. Ambiguous, I know, but I will give te examples and suggestions to help guide your hand. And, when te have done this charitable thing, just commento on this articolo and te AND your good deed will go up on the "Fanpop Humanitarians" list.

Now, this isn't a contest. We are not going to vote on who did the best good deed. Because, while I Amore our fanpop contests to death, I feel that when it comes to humanitarian effort, it shouldn't be about prizes o winning anything. It should be about helping. But I also believe that a little bit of incentive can go a long way. Such as "volunteer requirements" for classes, o "community service hours" for the IB. It definitely gets people out there and doing stuff. So I hope you'll see this as an incentive. te will be recognized for your work, and te will be applauded da your fellow fanpoppers, who will be similarly doing good deeds.

Now, I'm an idealist, but I can force myself to have a reality check every now and then. So I would love it if every fan of the fanpop Users Spot went out and did their good deeds. But I know that people are busy, o uninterested, o preoccupied and can't o for whatever reason won't participate, and that is fine. In fact, the pessimist in me (who often duals with the idealist for control) is saying that no one will want to do this, and that people will think it's lame. But I figured, what could it hurt da trying?

SO HERE'S THE DEAL!

As I stated previously, te go out and do your good deed. It can be big, o it can be small. And it can definitely consist of multiple deeds. It can be any time, any place, involving anyone. Even if te got paid for doing it, o reimbursed for your time, it still counts, because te were still doing good work.

I am contemplating having different categories... but that's if people are even interested. I'll leave that up to you.

Fanpop Good Deeds Include...

A) Volunteering at any place o organization that needs it, including homeless shelters, animal shelters, la minestra, zuppa kitchens, hospitals, schools, etc.

B) Assisting a friend, family member, neighbor, o whatever, who needs your help. For example, cleaning up your grandmother's house because she is unable to sposta around as well as te can. o helping your friend look for his Lost dog. o volunteering to rake your neighbors leaves (preferably free of charge) because te know he has a bad back.

C) Joining a non-profit organization that helps your community such as link o link

D) Donating time o money to any organization of your choice.

E) Anything te can think of that helps improve your community o the lives of your neighbors and fellow human beings.

When te do these things, be sure to segnala it da commenting on this article. Your name will appear on the list, along with the good deed te did, the data te did it on, and a little factoid o interesting tidbit te learned o would like to share about your experience.

Example: Cinders did a good deed on August 18 da joining link. Her little sister's name is Jorja, and she is really good at math.
or

harold did a good deed on August 18 da volunteering at a homeless shelter. He met a war veteran and amputee named Sam, whose retriever-lab mix was named Jilly and they shared a sandwich.

(DISCLAIMER: THESE ARE NOT ACTUAL EVENTS!)

If te have a link to the organizations home page, include it so other folks can check it out if they're interested!

Sound like fun? Let's kick this thing off with one of my good deeds.

FANPOP HUMANITARIANS bacheca OF FAME

link[/b] did a good deed from May 12-June 7 2008 da volunteering at link in Seattle. She helped a group of enthusiastic sixth graders put on the play "1000 Cranes." In a cast of twenty, there was only one boy, whose name was Forrest! She worked with two hearing-impaired children and was fascinated da how the interpreter translated so fast!

link did a good deed da volunteering at a local elementary school teaching kindergardeners how to use computers. She would go over two times a week for about an hour. They all had a lot of fun and it was never boring. She'll probably do it again this year, too!

link did a good deed da cutting off over 12 inchs of hair for link last year. Her hair hasn't grown quite long enough for that this year, but she did donate to link.

link did a good deed da helping kids at the hospital. Every week after school he goes to the hospital. He loves playing games and talking to them. They’re all great kids.

link did a good deed when she spent the past mese taking a neighbour's Husky pups back to their home. The pups (about 6 mths old so they are big) keep on getting out and running up and down the main strada, via - not strada, via wise at all. Luckily her Cani alert her, so she takes them back - even at 1:00am. A few days fa one of the pups got out again in the middle of the giorno and there was no one home. So Cammie called the RSPCA to help... her only concern was that these pups didn't get killed on the main road. She kept her eye on the pup to make sure he was sicuro, cassetta di sicurezza until the local council turned up da which time so had the owners. Did Cammie get a thank you? No! They abused her for "reporting them." Sometimes a good deed just doesn't go unpunished. But she says she'd do it again (for the animals) regardless of these people's ungrateful attitude.

link did a good deed da volunteering at a summer camp teaching kids arts and crafts for 3 weeks during July & August 2008. successivo mese (October) about 20 people, including jighooligan are volunteering at the local special needs school.

link did a good deed da visiting link regularly to broaden her vocabulary and give riso to the hungry.

link did a good deed da volunteering at Oxfam for two hours a week in November, 2008.

link did a good deed da joining forces with "link" to organize a children's strada, via play day, with a lot of games and no cars. These days children have very little spazio to play in a lot of towns (especially in a over-populated country like the Netherlands).
In addition to this, they also took a class of 11-12 years olds to a retirement home to play Bingo with the people there. Inspired da Sappp and her friends, the school made it their own project to do that once in a while, continuing the good work on their own.
Sappp and her Friends also walked the link (a walking event) with people in wheelchairs. The secondo anno they participated, a couple of other party's in the town did that too: great opportunity to do something good together, instead of only talking about the political differences.
And they collected a lot of autographs against animal-testing in the cosmetic industry
Most of this Sappp did when she was about 15-16 and was really active in the local Rood-department.

In addition to all of this, since Sappp was 6 she has always helped her mother collect for the Cancer-foundation, the Epilepsy-foundation and the Juliana-foundation (that's for muscle deseases). Since she became fifteen, she does it on her own (before she became eighteen, still under her mother's name). Sometimes she does one more, because the lady that sets all of these collections up, does a couple more, and sometimes she has too little people and asks if Sappp wants to do one more. It is only 3-4 ora work a anno for each collection and she usually does it in two nights. Since last year, Sappp also collects for the Kidney-foundation, since she has a kidney decease herself, and she finds it rather weird that she doesn't collect for what she has herself.

link volunteers three times a week for a couple of hours at her local link, and she loves it!

Also, her tutor group at school raised over £600 for a charity called link. Some of us did the Bristol 10K, which, she adds, "was incredibly hard for someone with two injured knees and an injured shoulder but we all had loads of fun doing it and we raised about £450."

They also created a variety performance called Backwell Footlights and had dancers, a weakest link sketch, 'gangsta' rap and loads of teachers singing. They raised over £200 for that.

She used to volunteer at a disabled summer club (her sister has disabilities so it was close to the heart). They would play games and go on mini trips such as the shops which although was just down the road was something they all enjoyed.

link donated clothing to link, which is an organization that helps people in the US with disabilities.

That's it! How about te guys give it a go?

I joined fanpop in May 2007 and I have been tremendously active on the site since the very first day. I understand how fanpop can grow and anything that I can add to help out, I will. One thing I Amore doing is leaving comments. It is a perfect way to let people know what te think o to start a great discussion. I have always been real and honest in my opinions and I trust them. Lately I feel like I have to think way too long before I click invia on a comment. That feeling is slowly diminishing but some fan seem to have a problem with people stating their opinions. A lot of people like to...
