Exactly one anno fa I was doing a cerca for Vita da strega immagini when I came across the fansite, Fanpop. I have to say that I was not too impressed at the time with the Vita da strega spot - there were only a couple of picks and a few images. I realized that it was the sort of site that te can add your own stuff so I joined the fansite. The most intriguing thing that really appealed to me was that te could create your own spots,so I did. My very first spot was A Summer Place. For those youngsters that aren't even familiar with A Summer Place, it is a 1959 film which I adore. One anno later and that spot only has a fanlist of seven but that's cool with me. I then went kind of beserk and created about 16 o 17 spots in a matter of a couple of months. Probably the ones that have been the most successful (with around 100 fans)are the Witchcraft spot and the Natale Film spot. After all, my taste is quite primative and not to everyone's taste so I do understand that some of the spots might not be everyone's cup of tea.
The other thing that impressed me about fanpop was the interaction betwen the users - I liked that. I did not really commento a lot at first but have since più than made up for those early days, lol.
My first omaggio was from megloveskyle and my first fan was the awesome DrDevience. Her fanning me was kind of a shock because it happened a few minuti after this 'conversation':

I have to admit that I became very taken with the fansite right from the beginning and started to spend più and più time on it. I started to discover spots that I could add to and slowly realized that I was spending a great deal of time on the site. That really surprised me. I had never joined any fansites before and thought sites like MySpace and Facebook were meant only for teenagers. Having detto that, at first I felt a little like a pesce out of water when I realized that the majority of fanpoppers were my own daughter's age. I need not have worried too much though. Right from the beginning I have always been made to feel very at home here, no one has ever made me feel like "go get on a fansite for your age!"I Amore the kids here as much as I do the older users in my own age group.
I do believe I spend way too much time here - I have had days when I've been on the site for over 12 hours. The thing is I have found myself with quite a lot of spare time and spare time can sometimes mean lonely time. My daughter moved out of home and I have been out of work for over six months so there's many hours with nothing to do. te can only clean the house so many times a week, lol.
So to me fanpop is actually very theraputic. It's the place I come to not only to have a bit of fun but to de-stress from the real world. It's become a kind of addiction of sorts but a good one. It allows me to interact with many other people and that's important. For although this might only be considered the cyber world, the people ARE real.
And it allows me to spend time enjoying and adding to many great spots of things I enjoy - the Vita da strega spot being at the superiore, in alto of the list, of course, lol.
So, I continue to visit here on a daily basis and am still having a lot of fun on the site.
So a big THANK te to all the fanpoppers and to, of course, the F4 who created the site.
Now, I must go and 'expose' myself to the fanpoppers as promised (link)or I might find a few not-so-nice commenti awaiting me,lol.
Amore the pop!
