 Happy Birthday Fanpop!
Happy Birthday Fanpop!
Five years fa today, I was sitting in my living room with link, link, and link when together we pressed a button on a keyboard and released fanpop to the world. We had no idea what was in store for us o for the site, but we had a dream to build something really cool and we hoped others would like it. For months and months we toiled away at our computers designing and coding what te all see today. We talked endlessly about features and ideas. Papa and I mocked them up and Cliff and Michael programmed them into reality. te grow pretty tight when te spend that many days and nights together. We went from being Fansters to Fanspots and finally launched as fanpop on August 1, 2006. We had a small number of test users that had been using our closed beta site but now we were opening the doors to the public and it was scary. What if no one came? What if people hated the site? What if we had to give up and go get scrivania, reception jobs at some office cube farm again? So many "what ifs" overwhelmed us that day.

After our initial launch and some press from sites like link and link the first few months things were pretty quiet and we were honestly pretty scared that it wasn't going to work out. We knew that we had a good product, but we didn't know how to get users to come. Slowly but surely though, the fan found their way here. Twilight fan came. Harry Potter fan came. Justin Bieber fan came. One albero collina fan came. Glee fan came. Michael Jackson fan came. più and più fan found their way to fanpop and before we knew it we had thousands of club and millions of fan coming to the site. The best part about it was that fan around the world were connecting with fellow fan who shared their passions and were making new friends. fanpop was actually growing into a bona fide community and the ultimate site for fans.

Fast inoltrare, avanti to August 1, 2011 and today we are the #372 biggest site on the internet according to link. According to our internal metrics we have over 13 million users a mese around the world visiting Fanpop. But più importantly, when I interact with users o read commenti on our wall, I hear all the time how much people Amore the website and how they really feel at home here. It means più to the fanpop four that we created a place on the web that didn't exist before which people can't live without now. That's pretty special and so are each and every one of our fantastic Fanpoppers. We feel like proud fathers who have watched our little website grow into this amazing network of fan club which are alive with excited fan who Amore to talk about all sorts of topics that we could have never imagined. We know that without all of our awesome and dedicated users, we wouldn't be where we are today. It's the fan that make fanpop and we will never forget our commitment to te guys. We've spent the past five years building features and designing the website for you. But we're not done yet folks! So keep on Fanpopping, because there's much più in store for the years to come!

Writers Note: This has some strong opinions. I wrote it for my blog. Therefore, it was meant to state my opinions loud and clear with no respect for others. Sorry about that guys, but if you're sensitive, proceed with caution. I'm also very liberal.

Well, we've been in Iraq for five years as of Wednesday. And now we might be getting into the same thing in Iran. Nothing is certain, that's just my opinion. te think they'd actually learn after the first time. te know, maybe if we've been stuck in this damn place forever where it's kinda hard to withdraw, that we shouldn't do it again. But apparently...

This part of my link details how te can format text in your postings on Fanpop, and the articolo was last edited (to fix typographical errors) on 17 July 2013.

TEXT FORMATTING
Those of te who have written soapbox articoli before may have seen the guide that fanpop provides for formatting text. But maybe you've never written a soapbox articolo o never noticed the key, and have been wondering how some users manage to make their text più interesting. With these tags, te can:

I thought I would put this on here because from what I understand this in not something that happens very often. I thought it was a fun way to pubblicità the spot and get new members.

Okay, I know I haven't been the most active lately but I really feel like the abuse and bullying between members here is a real big push back for me. Every time I come on there is some sort of bullying happening in some spot. And I will be honest and say that it IS mainly the OTH type spots.

A perfect example of this? link. These commenti happened 2 o so hours before I wrote this article, not months fa so it is a relevant thing. I don't care if te think I am pin pointing anyone because both sides in bullying count, not just the initiator.

"So look at what *name* said:

I almost detto this on yet another Twilight pick in yet another irrelevant spot, but I felt that the user would feel targeted, when really this isn't about that individual user, it's about the Twilight fan in general.

I have heard from some Twilight fan (note: I detto "fans" and not "fanatics" and in this case, there is a very large difference) that they are actually afraid to go into the Twilight Spot anymore because of all the enthusiastic Twilight fanatics. Now that's OK. fan (or fanatics) of any topic can be as crazy as they want within the confines of their own spot. House, One albero Hill,...

It's so frustrating. te create a spot, o find a spot te like and add all sorts of content, yet nobody rates it. Days go da . . . weeks . . . nothing. Now, te have lots of fans, but do they know your spots o the content you've added? Are te familiar with your fan contributions?

Here's an idea. Look at your fans. Go their profiles and look at their activity. Check out what content they've added. te don't have to unisciti the spot if you're not a true fan of the subject, but that shouldn't stop te from rating the content. Try to answer some of their quiz questions. Look over their links, videos, and/or images. Rate what te see. Make it a monthly event. Choose one giorno each mese and on that giorno choose one of your fan and rate his o her activity.

da exploring your fans' activities you'll help them as well as find out più about them. Who knows, te may learn something new and perhaps find something new of which te can be a fan.

I know te folks are tired of hearing about crediting images. I'm not here to beat that into your head yet again. I've already done that... and I continue to do it in commenti on your immagini when te forget.

No. This time I am here to give te a helpful tip. A lot of te have paid attention and are now putting a credit on your images. Thank te for that! The problem now is a lack of film knowledge, which is very forgivable.

You see, when it comes to movies, forget what I detto earlier about crediting the website te got the image from if te can't find the actual owner of the image. With movies,...

It has come to my attention that my gift for words has been failing me miserably these past few days. What I mean to impart is coming off as bitchiness rather than humerous o helpful.

For that, I want to apologize. Especially to Harold, who works hard for this site and didn't deserve to feel like he was under attack at all. I'm an idiot. I would offer to smooch and make up, but I'm too old to be getting beat up da anyone's wife...

Now, having detto that, I am going to go over a few things that might be responsible for this mood lately. I simply feel like I am banging my head against the wall...
